Job Description

You will be joining Avery Dennison’s newly stood up Data Science Center of Excellence (CoE), a centralized team responsible for planning and driving the digital roadmap within Avery Dennison’s Materials Group North America division. The Data Science CoE will be filled with digital talent that will be working on the most important initiatives within Materials Group to increase operational efficiency and unlock value for our customers, in close collaboration with internal resources and external partners.

We are looking for dedicated individuals with a passion for software development, large-scale data analytics, and redefining organizations into AI led innovative companies. Our AI Engineers are part of our rapidly growing Data Science team and will help to build the next generation of AI solutions. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience applying software development practices and standards to develop robust and maintainable footprint, will remain actively involved in every part of the software development process, and will have experience in guiding non-technical teams and consultants in best practices for robust software development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building analytical solutions for operations, supply chain, or commercial organizations, driving AI best practices in terms of system design and architecture
  • Apply software development practices and standards to develop robust and maintainable software
  • Remain actively involved in every part of the software development process
  • Analyzing problems and determining root causes
  • Able to distill complex results into simple, clear visualizations
  • Able to explain sophisticated data science concepts in an understandable manner
  • Guide non-technical teams and consultants in and best practices for robust software development
  • Optimize and improve computational efficiency of algorithms and software design
  • Enjoy collaborating in teams to share software design and solution ideas

Qualifications

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s degree (preferred), or other advanced degree required in software engineering, statistics, operations research, computer science, engineering, or related field where software development forms a substantial part of the curriculum
  • 8+ years of relevant industry work experience providing AI/ML ops and machine learning engineering solutions
  • Experience with core AI Engineering tools: Python plus a one of: C++, C#, or Java; RedHat Linux or other Unix-based environment; Google Cloud Platform
  • Deep Technical and AI expertise: The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience building and deploying large-scale MLOps platforms and machine learning engineering pipelines
  • Exceptional record of academic achievement, professional accomplishment, project management, and leadership
  • Motivated by a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and interacting directly with team members on new features for future product releases
  • A natural problem-solver and intellectually curious across a breadth of industries and topics
  • Business sense: Good knowledge of industry perspective and ability to translate business needs into data
  • Project lead experience is strongly preferred

The salary range for this position is $95,325-$142,352 / year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
