Job Description

The position will lead the Americas Global Trade Management (GTM) team to improve, streamline, automate, and standardize GTM processes related to import and export in the Region. It involves identifying strategies and programs to achieve savings and compliance, as well as collaborating closely with business leaders to ensure the GTM organization contributes to the Corporation.

You will work with Senior Management to ensure:

  1. adherence to law and regulations governing Import and Export compliance across the Americas Region,
  2. evaluate and interpret customs laws and regulations and how they impact the businesses,
  3. coordinate and implement any change of current policies and processes in accordance with Corporate Global Trade Policy and/or local law/regulation,
  4. Communicate with Business/Division leaders across the region to support Business initiatives on a priority basis and 5) will be responsible for supervising tasks associated with importing and exporting goods within the Americas Region.

Responsibilities:

Employee Development & Management

Lead, monitor performances of, evaluate and provide feedback to trade compliance employees, both direct and indirect

Attract, retain and develop high potential talent Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values Influence trade compliance team members to partner with business

counterparts to ensure compliance while achieving individual and business goals

Build and lead a resourcing strategy and team operating plan, continuously coordinating efforts and prioritizing

Operations

Monitor, analyze and interpret developments of international trade legislations in the region. Assess impacts to the Company operations, take actions to apply the opportunity or mitigate risks.

Evaluate current business operation models, trade programs, execution processes, and tools to identify growth and improvement opportunities that improve the Company's success while ensuring compliance.

Maintain accurate trade compliance master data, such as HTS codes, country of origin, ECCN, customs ruling, duty suspension, etc., to ensure consistent and compliant execution of import and export transactions.

Lead teams in driving special duty reduction programs, such as Free Trade Agreements (FTA), duty concessions, processing duty relief programs, duty drawback, AND ensure that the savings are sustainable and compliance requirements are met.

Work with business partners to conduct denied party screenings and lead economic sanctions and export control risks.

Develop partnerships with customs brokers and other third-party trade management resources, including selection, the entire contractual cycle, FCPA compliance, service performance, etc.

Develop, implement, and conduct self-audit programs for GTM tasks/programs. Lead periodic internal control testing to ensure adherence to compliance programs and SOPs.

Lead customs audits in conjunction with local/regional personnel and internal and external counsel as needed

Partner with procurement, business development, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, etc., to provide assistance in calculating benefits/consequences related to new sourcing, new product development, footprint adjustment, AND communicate results.

Participate in M&A due diligence and integration projects to support the external growth of the Company.

Qualifications

Education and Credentials:

Degree qualified or equivalent, preferably in International Trade or Foreign Trade

8+ years experience in International Trade & Customs Compliance activity within a manufacturing/retail company preferred.

Licensed Customs Broker is preferred

Multilingualism is preferred.

Required Experience:

Ability to balance rule driven processes with creative problem solving skills.

Proven experience directly leading a high performing team in a manufacturing environment and the ability to develop, coach, empower and mentor the team and ensure a robust talent succession plan is in place.

Lead cross functional and geographically diverse teams and inspire change in a complex, multi-level organization leading proactively, thinking in solutions rather than problems, possess business acumen, and ensure projects are driven to execution in a timely manner.

Develop strong internal and external relationships at all levels, to ensure GTM initiatives are given support from business leaders for success.
