Job Description

The Director of North American Shared Services will lead a team of managers responsible for general accounting, indirect tax,  accounts payable for the different businesses. In this role, the  Director will provide financial leadership for all critical business projects and support/participate in the development, assessment, and implementation of the respective department’s strategy.  You will collaborate cross-functionally with many other leaders across the businesses to deliver on operational effectiveness and transformation. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In your role as the Director, North America Shared Services, delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success:

 

  • Business Partnership: Provide technical and accounting guidance/training to the business, highlighting changes in process or GAAP reporting.  Review financial results and resolve inquiries in a timely manner.  Collaborate across all business functions to ensure financials are appropriately stated and drive business initiatives where appropriate.     
  • Monthly/Quarterly Close Process: Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close process including, journal entry review and approval, schedule submission and account reconciliation and approval.  Analyze financial results and investigate variances as required.
  • Controllership/Compliance: Support activities related to compliance initiatives and policies (SOX, Trade Compliance, External & Internal Audit, Indirect Tax, Balance Sheet Reviews etc). Identify compliance gaps and coordinate resolution activities with compliance teams. Ensure all required deadlines are met and respond quickly to all follow-up questions. Provide meaningful analysis to explain variances and other audit requirements as necessary.  Work closely with the outsource provider to drive compliance and standardization.
  • Working Capital Improvement: Collaborate with the business to drive improvements in working capital and business decision-making.
  • Drive Process Improvements/Standardization: Drive continuous improvements, utilizing ELS or other tools, across all processes.  Identify and leverage best practices within the group. Work with appropriate functional leadership teams to assess risks, allocate resources and eliminate issues that threaten project success.
  • People Management and Development: Help recruit, develop, and retain a talented pool of employees, creating a solid succession pipeline. Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.  Establish individual performance objectives for the team members and manage their job performance. Manage a team of 6 managers and 20-25  individual contributors. 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred, CPA preferred

 

Experience

  • 10+ years of financial and accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Shared Service Organization is preferable
  • Experience with GAAP reporting and SOX controls
  • Minimum of 5 years managing and developing people managers and individual contributors talent
  • Mainstream ERP and/or financial system(s) experience preferred
