Job Description
The Sr. Director Commercial is responsible for our commercial organization in Performance Tapes Europe and is part of the Performance Tapes Europe leadership team. The incumbent plays a key role in uniting our Marketing and Sales efforts to accelerate the profitability of the business and to ensure we are the partner of choice for our customers in high-value tape applications. And to execute on the PTEU strategic priorities to transform to a high-value business to co-build on a sustainable future and to support a step change in productivity.
Key responsibilities
- Supports the development of solutions in the five segments of Performance Tapes Europe to enable profitable growth
- Partner with peers, finance, operations and other key stakeholders to drive Annual Operating and Strategic Planning process
- Responsible for developing a profitable and sustainable product road map and defining a strategic plan
- Develop and implement long-term commercial strategies that are geared toward developing greater market share and profitability
- Excellence in execution – drive near-term results and performance
- Deliver year over year sales growth in all key tapes segments
- Determine and position customer product needs information regarding product quality, industry best practices, product applications, and consultative services.
- Identify customer needs and assess divisional benefits. Set goals to meet and accomplish these needs.
- Identify, set direction, and manage technical support of new markets and specialty business development initiatives. Identify new products that have broad market potential and translate them to multiple customers.
- Lead a commercial team that includes territory sales and key account management, customer service, product managers, marketing communication and business development
- Attract and develop winning talent. Manage LDR and visibility to regional talent, people development, succession and diversity
- Lead benchmarking of topics in support of the commercial goals.

- Attract, retain and develop a high-performance team. Build succession and increase diversity and inclusion
- Model and promote the Corporation’s values at all times and be a team role-model and change-agent
- Coordinate and unite team efforts, create and manage a European strategy with a focus on innovation and excellence.
- Assess the competency needs of the team and individuals and provide feedback and developmental opportunities in line with business needs and the aspirations and talents of the team
Qualifications
- 12+ years business experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing with MBA strongly preferred or equivalent is a prerequisite
- Strong experience in strategic leadership needed, international exposure preferred
- Possess leadership, mentoring, training and project management experience and skills
- Skilled in effectively coaching, teaching, and developing solid sales and negotiation skills within the Sales and Marketing teams.
- Strong business and financial acumen required
- Strong understanding of product and technical information
- Demonstrated success in cross-regional projects or initiatives.
- Strong experience negotiating large/major contracts.
- Skilled communicator, verbally and in writing, to all levels on complex business issues
- Able to champion new business ventures. This will require excellent organizational and people skills, project management skills, with an ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely, concise manner.
- Strategic thinker with proven track record of driving execution both personally and through teams
- Proven ability to identify, select, develop and retain top talent in an organization
