Job Description
Avery Dennison Materials Group’s Energy Storage team is dedicated to capturing growth in emerging Energy Storage market segments by leveraging relevant products, assets and capabilities spanning various divisions across the entire organization. The Energy Storage segment includes applications in battery cells and packs, electric vehicles, energy storage systems and charging stations for various market verticals such as automotive, heavy truck, marine and more. Our adhesives, tapes, functional films, labels, RFID connectivity and fasteners are solutions for thermal runaway mitigation, electrical insulation, wire harness, track and trace circularity, cell wrapping, current collectors and much more.
The Business Development Manager, E-Mobility and Automotive (BDM) is a key role in driving objectives and initiatives for Energy Storage segments. The BDM will act as the front-line contact in building strategic relationships along various points of the electric vehicle value chain, primarily with OEMs, tiers and cell producers in North America. Reporting to the Market Manager, Energy Storage North America, this position will work cross functionally with commercial and technical teams across different divisions of Avery Dennison North America and also globally with the Europe and Asia Energy Storage teams.
Your primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:
- Support the execution of strategy, objectives and plan for the Energy Storage segment in North America.
- Initiate and develop strategic relationships with cell producers, OEMs and tiers by providing them education of our solutions, product recommendations and access to our technical support teams.
- In collaboration with our sales teams, leverage existing customer relationships and converter network to make connections across the entire related value chain.
- Create new opportunities and build on the existing Salesforce.com pipeline. Drive and implement these opportunities to completion via spec-in or direct sales, ultimately to realize new revenue.
- Identify and collect insights, struggles, trends, risks and emerging applications. Build opportunity analyses (market research, feasibility study) for applications when vital.
- Support research & development efforts by connecting product and technology developers to targets, collecting voice of customers and acquiring specifications.
- Support marketing communications and promotion initiatives by acting as a subject matter expert, influencing content, providing trade show support, speaking publicly at conferences and participating in trade associations.
Qualifications
- B.S degree required. B.S in engineering, or similar field is preferred.
- At least 5-10 years experience in the automotive and/or energy storage industries is required, backed by a proven track record with clear knowledge of the market, technologies, players and channels.
- Pressure sensitive tape and converting background and successful experience working with OEMs, battery manufacturers, functional material manufacturers and converters is preferred.
- Strong technical competence of battery designs, adhesives, polymers, chemicals, etc preferred
- Validated commercial experience in specification development and commercial sales, key account management, product management, or marketing experience.
- Confirmed skills and competencies in developing sales penetration, and customer growth strategies throughout the value chain.
- Passionate pursuit of customer happiness. Strong bias to bringing value and customer dedication.
- Strong Teammate. Able to work effectively engaging internal cross functional resources.
- Innovation spirit, ability to catalyze new business opportunities in a dynamic “start up” market environment
- High energy, ambitious, goals/results oriented. Able to effectively operate in a remote-from-HQ location.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Preferred work locations: Detroit metro, Cleveland metro, but open to fully remote
The salary range for this position is $94,575 - 126,100 / year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
