Job Description

The Sr. Marketing Insights  Analyst will support execution of primary and secondary market research efforts, with a focus on delivering useful insights to the organization. As a member of a team that touches every part of the company, you will work on a wide range of high-visibility market segment projects supporting strategic direction, customer experience/satisfaction, journey mapping, product development, and other marketing efforts and innovation.

This position reports to the Director, Market and Customer Insights

Key responsibilities:

  1. Customer Experience  
  • The person will act as a thought leader and business partner who represents the “Voice of the Consumer/Customer” and helps shape our customer experience and strategic marketing plans while ensuring the consumer/customer is at the center of everything we do.
    • Scope, design and implement customer satisfaction primary research - quantitative & qualitative
    • Understand drivers of excellent customer experience how Avery Dennison and competitors are performing against them
    • Journey mapping for the sales segments and processes that we find pain points 
    • Build personas that will help us pilot and implement the segments
    • UX usability testing for the websites & My Avery Dennison
  • Work with the cross functional teams to project manage identification of customer facing pain points and ideation/testing of solutions
  • SuppoLead research initiatives, including annual Customer and Supplier Experience tracking surveys, to understand drivers of excellent customer and supplier experience and how UNFI and competitors are performing against them.
  • Integrate multi-stakeholder experience findings within UNFI’s value proposition deployment and strategic planning process, including defining KPIs, e.g., NPS.
  • Determine best research tools to understand the challenges, pain points, and moments of delight across the buyer journey.

2) Segment insights & strategic planning  

  • Developing, executing, and socializing market research insights to support and influence strategic and innovation initiatives from emerging macro, industry and consumer trends.
  • Develop and execute market segment insights learning plans, identifying key knowledge gaps, developing deeper understandings of consumer and business to business behavior toward the brand, product usage and packaging.
  • Translate and communicate market segment insights into compelling story-led reports and presentations to support strategic plans and recommendations that will drive innovation and change.
  • Socialize the information to Marketing, Sales and R&D and other functions  for use in driving customer presentations, business strategies, new product ideas and direction.
  • Manage outside research companies as needed to deliver insights, trends and market data.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., marketing, economics, psychology, statistics)
  • 8 years of experience in primary and secondary market research/analysis, competitive intelligence, consumer and brand  insights, strategy and innovation 
  • B2B market research experience strongly desired
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-project,  high growth environment.
  • Knowledge of market and industry research methodologies and resources - ability to identify research & insights needs to support the business
  • Strong conceptual problem-solving skills; ability to analyze data and dig deep in subject matter.
  • Excellent storyteller with a proven track record of delivering useful insights succinctly, in a compelling and engaging way.
  • Desired experience working with Euromonitor, IHS, Oxford Economics, Mintel and other research databases.
  • Experience with Qualtrics (or other survey software) and SPSS - experience building discussion guides/outlines for the interviews
  • Outstanding project management and organization skills. Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the business plan while being accountable for deadlines and partnering with the product managers to deliver timely and useful insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize data into relevant insights that drive business actions
  • Possesses collaboration, leadership and facilitation skills to cut across many diverse functional fields and regional cultures.
  • 5-10% travel.
