The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials Group North America is looking for a Project Engineer to join our facility in Greenfield, IN. Our plant is a 450-person, 24/7, non-union facility that produces pressure sensitive labeling solutions for the health, hygiene, food and beverage space. The primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:

  • Must have experience leading small to large capital projects related to building construction and or equipment purchases. Candidate should have a strong mechanical background.
  • Responsible for developing bid specifications, soliciting bids, working with corporate procurement to award contracts for both manufacturing equipment and construction.
  • Develop project schedules and lead all aspects of installations
  • Work with internal customers to ensure all functional requirements and acceptance criteria are documented and met using a detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Follow Management of Change processes to implement projects.
  • Responsible for holding regular progress meetings, supervising commitments from others, and raising any unresolved issues to management.
  • Must supervise and lead project budget
  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD for updating and crafting plant layouts, P&ID drawings, and generating detailed fabrication or machine details. Equipment design experience is a plus.
  • Design, evaluate and modify complex mechanical and electromechanical devices or systems to continuously improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Individual must be self directed and able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data to prepare technical specifications.
  • Must be capable of working within a team and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Coach maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Represents the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Participate in, lead and sponsor various task teams or problem solving teams

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, required. Mechanical Engineering (or Technology) preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Expertise in liquid piping systems at either equipment or facility level preferred.
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.
  • Capital equipment purchasing experience preferred.
  • Ability to estimate, track, and lead to a capital budget.
  • Strong ability to solve equipment/process issues.
  • Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related fields.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Greenbelt Certification a plus.

Additional Competencies Required

  • Possess well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient with CAD and have a good background in mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints drawings and technical manuals.
  • Must be knowledgeable in mechanical drafting documentation principles.
  • Strong ability to interface effectively with multi-functional groups to define and implement overall requirements.
