Job Description

As a part of the Avery Dennison corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team, the Corporate EHS Manager is an integral part of the EHS team supporting the Company’s environmental, health, safety and sustainability strategy and initiatives by enabling a culture of data-driven decision making, system-supported problem solving, and predictive analyses. The EHS Manager will support the EHS function through internal and external reporting, data management and process improvement, while assisting the EHS team with subject matter expertise in our EHS Management System ASPIRE (Enablon platform)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead various EHS software platforms to support regulatory compliance, sustainability and EHS management processes
  • Lead respective department budget, ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Handle the relationship with ASPIRE vendor (Enablon) to gain knowledge of system standard processes, enhancements, and upgrades to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop EHS software platform training programs to ensure effective training of staff at all levels of the organization
  • Provide support for trend analysis of key data targets (e.g. injuries, audit findings, energy and waste) to find opportunities and specific actions to drive improvement in regulatory compliance, injury prevention, and sustainability activities.
  • Update key partners and end users on information/standard processes and upgrades. Partner with key partners to understand their needs and build solutions
  • Collaboration with functional leads in driving the IT Strategy & Planning, project portfolio planning, Budget/Finance Control and Change Management for EHS Digital Journey.
  • Influence and align expectations of the EHS staff across several regions and business units to achieve project objectives and department goals
  • Liaise globally with all sites to ensure the EHS platforms solutions are meeting the needs and requirements of the organization
  • Responsible for EHS Systems management/strategy and leading the EHS IT & Digital Transformation
  • Participate in establishing and tracking department goals
  • Be a partner in providing overall program leadership, strategic direction, organization, guidance and lead scope of the global EHS IT transformation program
  • Evaluates the introduction of new technologies and its potential interaction with other systems. Stay abreast of most recent research and industry trends in the field. Develop and/or implement programs to minimize risk to employees, customers and the environment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field or equivalent work experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.  
  • At least 5-7 years business experience in compliance management, preferably in EHS or sustainability.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining data management systems (preferably Enablon)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete projects and assignments, exercising frequent independent judgment, initiative, and tact. Excellent time-management, organizational and project management skills are a must.
  • Experience and complex project management
  • Experience in handling and maintaining highly confidential and critical matters and information.
  • Proficiency of applicable computer systems and demonstrated ability to effectively learn and use function specific software

  • Critical thinking to incorporate business strategies and challenging needs from multiple partners into effective long strategies and plans
  • Project management and problem solving skills to get the job done on time and within established parameters

  • Ability to understand complex issues and accurately provide effective support and mentorship with attention to detail
