Job Description

Avery Dennison’s Global Communications team is looking for a highly skilled, energetic communications manager to lead a variety of initiatives that enable the Information Technology organization to meet its strategic objectives. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Communications, this full-time remote position is responsible for developing and executing strategic communications and change management plans to create awareness, adoption and engagement with key technology changes across the company. Further, this position will serve as a thought partner and communications lead for IT’s sustainability, employee engagement and digital innovation initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic communications and change management plans for enterprise technology-enabled changes, including IT security, data loss prevention and new technology rollouts. 

  • As the strategic IT communications partner for mergers and acquisitions, partner with business units and functional teams to develop and execute communications and change management plans to onboard new employees to Avery Dennison’s digital workplace suite of tools. 

  • Serve as strategic communications partner helping project teams to define issues and assess  user impact, monitor progress and achievement of communications objectives, and evaluate results. 

  • Write, edit, oversee creative/design and deliver a variety of communications materials, including tips and tricks articles, news and stories on enhancements, FAQs, video scripts, quick reference sheets, web content, communities posts, and presentations.

  • Provide planning and execution support for executive communications initiatives such as the Annual IT Awards, Leadership Summit meetings, and Diversity, Inclusion and Equity communications. 

  • Provide communications leadership for select IT strategic objectives such as digital innovation, and sustainability to share updates and build thought leadership across the enterprise.

Skills:

  • Internal communications experience, including strategic planning and execution.

  • Passionate about digital technologies and tools.

  • Experienced in working with executives and senior leadership.

  • Exceptional written and oral communications, including the ability to translate complex technical prose into user-friendly messaging.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and navigate through ambiguity.

  • Problem-solving or solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.

  • Adaptability to quickly change direction; strong workload/resource management, prioritization, negotiation on scope of work.

  • Creative, visual storytelling and video editing skills are preferred.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience working in complex digital communication or community management environments with demonstrated excellence in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic digital communications programs. 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 

  • Intrapersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others in a matrix organization to drive decision-making and accomplish goals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with executives who lead a complex organization. 

  • Demonstrated strong project and change management skills. 

  • Excellent Google Apps skills and a natural passion for technology. 

  • Previous work with enterprise community platforms and/or digital workplace platforms. 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Technology, Technology, Journalism, English or Business Administration or related field or four additional years of equivalent experience is preferred.
