Sr. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Communications Manager  —  Contractor

  • Please note. This role is part-time (20 hours per week).  Location is in the US.  Remote work is possible, must be proximate to a key Avery Dennison site.

Job Description

Location of the role is flexible, remote is possible, but you must reside near a key Avery Dennison site around the globe. As a DE&I communications manager, you will provide direct communications support to our director, Diversity & Inclusion. In this role, you will develop and execute an internal and external DE&I employee engagement strategy to build community, inspire and share our progress as we develop our reputation as a diversity, equity and inclusion employer of choice. You will own and execute key initiatives relevant to all Avery Dennison businesses -- serving as the central enterprise (corporate) resource to deliver a global vision that can be tailored by region and function, including change management activities.

To be successful in your role, you will do the following:

  • Support the director, Diversity & Inclusion, in developing, refreshing as needed, and executing the company-wide DE&I strategy and plan

  • Partner with a range of internal stakeholders including managers and leaders 

  • Coordinate communications between the “corporate center” and regional DE&I Councils and communicators

  • Quickly develop a good understanding of how the company is structured, by business, regionally, and by job role (professional or shop floor), as well as take initiative to learn about the different internal cultures

  • Primary responsibility will be to directly engage and participate in all DE&I Action Office meetings/discussions

  • In partnership with our Employee Resource Groups and their communications partners, build an enterprise calendar of ERG events and activities

  • Assume ownership of the DE&I OurWorld (intranet) page, identifying and flagging content needs or opportunities, drafting certain content yourself, and engaging communications partners as needed

  • Proactively seek opportunities to bring along our internal communities using the full range of AD comms resources and channels tailoring messages and approaches  to different audiences. 

  • Support building our external reputation efforts through storytelling and thought leadership.

  • Manage other activities as identified by the director

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in a business function (HR other) within a corporate environment

  • Experience with corporate Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (D&I) programs, change management, and project management 

  • Proven track record of project/task execution 

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable working and building relationships with people at all levels of the organization; able to influence leaders and others

  • Prefers working independently and owning your projects
