Job Description

In this versatile role of high impact within our matrix organization as Plant Manager (Regional Leadership Team) we are looking for a fresh, and agile mind to join and guide our plant (leadership team) in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands with a direct reporting line to our VP Supply Chain & Operations.

In this role you will have responsibility for managing Safety, Operations, Quality, Technical/Maintenance and Facility teams. You will work closely together with Human Resources and Finance. You will ensure a strong Plant Leadership team and work closely with a sister plant in the EU. 

Your Mission:

  • On a daily basis, you will take on the responsibility of overseeing our 70+ people and plant performance in order to meet business objectives as well as our customers’ expectations, and to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all our operational processes. All while ensuring safety remains our top priority and we manufacture in a clean and environmentally responsible manner.
  • You will be accountable for all aspects of our plant activities and Alphen location, and you will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective, sustainable manner that is compliant to our high safety, environmental, quality, and productivity requirements.
  • As a continuous journey you will be capable of quickly identifying critical opportunities and situations, and of possessing well-tested strategies for driving a decision to a close by leading a kaizen culture.

  • Manage day-to-day activities within the plant, including but not limited to driving continuous cost reduction and operating effectiveness improvement programs, maintaining a state of compliance, promoting best practices, manufacturing Right First Time, and delivering products consistently on time to customers.
  • Create a strong plant leadership team and a healthy and effective employee relations climate with a strong communication flow.
  • Support the integration of Enterprise Lean Sigma into the business, bring operating excellence and best practices into play in the plant.
  • Provide and communicate clearly the manufacturing vision, integrating both short and long term strategies, generating innovative manufacturing solutions for existing and new products/processes that support our goal of world class status in manufacturing and differentiate us from our competitors.
  • Develop and execute an overall plant manufacturing strategy, including organizational development within the operations areas to support all manufacturing personnel and process improvements.

Qualifications

What we expect from you! 

  • University Degree in Mechanical or Chemical or Industrial Engineering is desired
  • Previous work experience of 8+ years from a plant operations, managerial position, ideally in more than one function (manufacturing, logistics, supply chain) within a process manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, as well as ability to federate other site functions not reporting directly to operations
  • Skilled in leading multi-site, multi-functional or business project initiatives while having a Lean Manufacturing background
  • Creativity and innovation, entrepreneurial spirit for growing a sustainable business 
  • English and Dutch language skills required
