The Fastener Solutions business unit of Avery Dennison is a worldwide manufacturer of plastic fastening systems used in the automotive, apparel, retail, industrial and packaging industries. Our three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation is located in Fitchburg, MA. The Fastener Solutions business unit is ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified.

Job Description

The Global Supply Chain Manager is an integral part of the Global Leadership Team overseeing our global supply chain and coordinating activity between the team in Fitchburg, Hong Kong, Mexico and UK.  This position will also manage the Fitchburg supply chain team and be a key member of the Plant Leadership Team.  In this role, you will report directly to the General Manager.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate activity between regions to manage global supply chain base.  This includes price negotiations, supplier scorecards, new supplier qualifications.

  • Development and maintenance of BCP related to suppliers; includes evaluation of risk of supply and alternative suppliers.

  • Manage inventory performance and lead Supply Chain improvement efforts to exceed facility operational targets

  • Work with Operations and product line teams to establish business rules that best achieve service responsiveness, productivity, and loss objectives

  • Provide support and organizational linkages to Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, and Purchasing

  • Responsible for service levels for on time delivery.

  • Provide functional support to Leadership Team in logistics and capacity management

  • Lead or participate in inter-plant product transitions to reduce service interruptions

  • Initiate actions to simplify plant materials-related processes in order to reduce overall plant lead time

  • Plays an integral part in the S&OP Process for the site and division

  • Responsible for development of inventory strategies to include: Inventory Turns Planning, Raw Material Optimization, 

  • Perform general management duties, exercising authority concerning staffing needs, training needs, performance appraisals, skill development, timekeeping, consistent application of organizational policies, promotions, and terminations

  • Understand and ensure compliance with IATF16949 and ISO9001.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or technical discipline required.  

  • 5+ years experience production control and inventory management

  • Excellent leadership skills and previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Ability to work in a team environment and take ownership to resolve issues

  • Result-oriented individual with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • High Customer Focus: Ability to proactively identify and meet customer needs

  • Continuous improvement focus with effective results

  • Experience with production control in high-volume, varied product mix environment

  • Strong computer skills with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office (Excel) and function specific software and planning systems (MFGPro, DS/DSRP)

  • APICS or similar supply chain certification a plus
