Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at our Painesville Films Facility that will report to the EHS Manager.

As the EHS Specialist, you will serve as a key member of the site EHS team. Your key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Implementing programs and developing facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and Company requirements.

  • Integration of Company and facility level EHS management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection and safe operating conditions.

  • Tracking and regularly reporting the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.

  • Maintaining OSHA 300 log, form 101, and all other governmental and corporate database records.

  • Organizing and controlling an effective accident prevention program.

  • Implementing education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.

  • Function as the contractor-plant representative to ensure compliance of all PSM-related requirements from contractors.

  • Acting as a resource and mentor to facility safety teams.

  • Investigating all releases, injuries and near-misses.

  • Coordinating the Job Safety Analysis program and OSHA PPE compliance program and maintaining the SDS system.

  • Conducting periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.

  • Driving continuous improvement and delivering strong results from behavioral based processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience of complex work assignment or educational project driving results on EHS work assignments with progressive complexity, depth and scope. 

  • Advanced professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, QEP, CEA, REM etc.)preferred but not required. Experience with behavioral based safety initiative desired.

  • Knowledge of PSM or familiarity with solvent processes and solvent safety. 

  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements and EHS policies, procedures and programs.

  • Good Project/Problem Resolution skills.

  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function specific software.

  • Think strategically and have strong leadership skills with good interpersonal communications.

  • Strong mentoring, facilitating and training skills with the flexibility to support a 24 hour 7 day manufacturing schedule.
