Job Description

Avery Dennison is looking for a payroll supervisor to join our US/Canada Global Workforce Operations team!Avery Dennison Global Workforce Operations is seeking a Payroll Supervisor for the US/CAN Hub. The successful candidate will provide both leadership oversight and individual contribution on a variety of services that improve employee experience and support field HR needs. This role will provide supervision and direction to a team of Payroll Consultants delivering high quality employee payroll services to the US and Canada. The role will involve leading all aspects of day-to-day service delivery and administration activities, supporting service delivery review meetings and ensuring service commitments are met or exceeded.

Reporting into the Sr. Manager Payroll Optimization, Global Projects & Data Governance with a dotted line into the US/Canada GWO Hub Leader. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of services
  • Ensure agents have an in-depth, up-to-date understanding the services they are responsible for; including where to find routine information, answering policy questions, and knowledge of complex processes
  • Allocate ad-hoc work to the team ensuring that time critical and urgent cases are prioritized to meet SLAs and business need
  • Audit the ageing of cases to ensure that these are closed within SLAs
  • Drive consistency in process and performance across multi countries
  • Act as an escalation point for team members
  • Monitor trends in cases and propose opportunities to improve the service and resolve through direct access (Tier 0), where applicable
  • Develop key partner relationships with field HR
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws and standard methodologies
  • Management of the team
  • Day to day oversight of the payroll production team
  • Coordinate payroll processes and activities including inter-department dependencies
  • Validate internal process controls and maintain Sarbanes Oxley documentation
  • Manage audits performed by internal and external auditors
  • Assist with execution of short & long term payroll strategies
  • Supervise, motivate and develop the team through effective coaching and monitoring
  • Hold regular 1:1s with team members and assess individual and team performance regularly, taking quick action as required
  • Provide practical support and on the job training to help team members to develop
  • Encourage a positive attitude towards the team and the services delivered by the team
  • Support the Hub Leader in the recruitment of the team
  • Identify process and service improvement opportunities

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of payroll and timekeeping related experience in the US and Canada
  • 2-3+ years in a payroll supervisory role
  • Solid working knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems, experience with ADP preferred
  • 3+ years experience within a HR shared services environment preferred
  • 2-3 years experience with case management tool preferred
  • Strong management and coaching skills
  • Proven track record of providing excellent customer service to employees and managers at all levels in an organization
  • High attention to compliance and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Excel. Google Suite experience preferred.
  • Ability to interpret data to understand workload, capacity and trends in service
  • Ability to build strong and effective relationships
  • Experience with technology implementation and change management would be advantageous
