Job Description

Be part of the Engineering Innovation team developing new products for Avery Dennison including, but not limited to, portable and industrial thermal barcode printers, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), wireless solutions, accessories and services. Work within formal and informal teams; Utilize project management tools; Utilize individual creativity to resolve design and materials problems, Develop novel and successful products; Work closely with other corporate technical, manufacturing, and marketing resources; Will manage to milestones and have top-line growth objectives.
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Demonstrable ability to design new products from concept phase to mass production.
  • Participate as part of an innovative development team, contribute during conceptual design and architectural strategic planning sessions, provide in-depth technical input and analysis, perform design reviews, and actively participate as part of the overall engineering team.
  • Present information and effectively communicate with cross functional teams. 
  • Maintain awareness of advances in technology and competitive intellectual property.
  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. 
  • Provide recommendations for capital purchases- equipment.
  • Leverage internal and external experts to accomplish goals.
  • Methodical Problem Solving using a methodical approach (builds mental models, designs experiments, develops test tools, etc) in understanding and solving problems.
  • Must be able to balance (prioritize/manage) several projects at once 
  • Other duties, as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, from an accredited university, in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Effectively apply mechanical engineering best practices, latest innovations, analysis tools and machine shop manufacturing knowledge to designs
  • Mechanical design and 3D modeling experience with Solidworks preferred
  • Pro/E experience a plus
  • Thermal Flow, Strain/Stress, and Torque analysis experience
  • Mathematical mechanical modeling and simulation experience (e.g. Solidworks Simulation)
  • Technically creative with an understanding of mechanical functions to provide solutions in a robust and economical manner
  • Experienced in drawing creation for assemblies and details to include all dimensions, tolerances, and documentation to allow the manufacture and assembly of designs that meet specified requirements
  • Self-motivated to initiate and implement tasks, strategies and techniques in a goal oriented manner to increase productivity and profitability
  • Ability to work independently and foster a team environment, in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
