Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a dynamic individual to join our R&D Product Development Engineer team while supporting the Graphics Division of the Labels and Graphics Materials Group North America Research and Development team! In this role, the successful candidate will bring passion and determination to product development and innovation. As an Avery Dennison R&D product Development Engineer, you will join a Dynamic and cross-functional team to develop new and innovative products for our graphics division. You will Lead major new product development from concept to commercialization resulting in the launch of new and innovative Graphics products while collaborating with the marketing, operations, supply chain, and quality teams. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead technical projects while being accountable to delivering product attributes on time, while using good project management tools
  • Present information while optimally communicating with divisions and cross-functional teams. Present findings to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Deliver results in the areas of statistical data analysis, lean thinking and problem solving, in addition to creativity and the ability to collaborate and get results across boundaries with speed.
  • Create and develop mastery through market research, design and execution of experiments, benchmarking, test method development linked, to performance in manufacturing and customer and end-user processes, analysis of suppliers and markets to identify trends and opportunities for marketplace advantage, as well as new product development, processes and services.
  • Act as a team role model of Avery Dennison’s Values and positively influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
  • Mentor junior team members on research methodologies, help organizational growth and development
  • Partner with the Graphics marketing team in order to translate customer requirements into product attributes
  • Aid in product roadmap development working closely with commercial counterparts

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering preferred
  • 4 - 6 years of proven experience supporting/leading new product development in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proven management/leadership skills preferred
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Ability to interface effectively with multi-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements
  • Strong technical background, scientific and engineering knowledge with emphasis on analytical skills, problem solving, and statistical data analysis
  • Understanding of different pressure sensitive adhesive formulations including emulsions, solvents and hotmelts.
  • Understanding with different types of coating, casting and lamination processes,
  • Familiarity with the Graphics industry and graphics applications, especially in automotive aftermarket, signage and fleet applications
  • Familiarity with PVC chemistries and formulation of flexible PVC films
