Job Description

The Coating Value Stream Manager role is passionate about improving the performance of our coating department to achieve excellence in safety, quality, service, cost and people. Development and execution of departmental strategies which align with key business objectives is critical to this role. This role will work cross-functionally within Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Procurement. Ability to work cross-functionally and influence others are key in this role. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and leads all aspects of the Coating Department and its Frontline Leaders.

In your role as Coating Value Stream Manager, delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success:

  • Promote safety as the most important value in the organization. Provide leadership and direction to maintain a safe operation at all times.
  • Ensure the Coating business unit is constantly striving to meet customer needs and expectations through interactions and communications with the Materials Group business teams.
  • Provide the Coating operations system with performance measurement tools and expectations to meet critical operating goals.
  • Lead strategic planning and visioning processes for the long term improvement of the Coating center.
  • Ensure development of front line supervisors through communications and the performance management and review process.
  • Provide leadership for improvement. Promote and lead Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) activities to reduce variation and eliminate waste from plant product and processes.
  • Interact with sales, marketing and all internal functions to reach business sales and profit goals by providing a reliable supply of high quality products and services at the lowest possible costs.
  • Develop partnerships with customers and suppliers.
  • Promote collaboration between operations, engineering and resource groups.
  • Sponsor and lead key Coating Unit improvement initiatives and projects. Provide direction for projects in quality, cost reductions, six sigma and Environmental, Health and Safety.
  • This role directly supervises a minimum of 4 Front Line Leaders and an organization of approximately 65+ operations employees in a 24/7 operation which will require the manager to be on call. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field or Bachelor’s degree with significant proven leadership in manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing operations position and experience leading both exempt and non-exempt employees is highly preferred.

Other:

  • Leadership experience and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and build relationships while effectively handling boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong Computer abilities, including data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow individuals within the organization and prepare for higher level or more challenging roles.
  • Ability and willingness to adjust schedule to support multi-shift operations.
  • Dedication to a collaborative organization
  • Results driven with a focus on improvement. Organized and logical with ability to prioritize and sort sophisticated problems moving to root cause and final resolution.
  • Knowledge of hot melt Coating operations and experience with continuous flow manufacturing preferred.
  • Black Belt or Green Belt Certification a plus.
