Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Quality Project Engineer that is a highly motivated problem solver that has the ability  to lead cross functional teams and drive results. In this role, the successful candidate will bring passion, determination and a sense of urgency to drive a world class quality culture to Graphics operations. You will work closely with the broader divisional quality organization in Graphics, site operations, engineering and supply chain to ensure business success in a leading company where individual and team success are recognized and rewarded. 

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead strategic quality improvement projects to reduce the occurrence of customer claims 

  • Reduce the occurence of HOLD rolls by leading and facilitating cross functional root cause problem solving 

  • Maintain and improve reports tracking critical quality metrics including HOLD accrual and customer claims 

  • Lead capital projects to introduce engineering controls to improve product consistency 

  • Perform capability analysis to minimize internal run variation resulting in out of spec material 

  • Support R&D project development and scale up to ensure site quality expectations are accounted for 

  • Participate in daily MDI process and support quality related actions

  • Lead customer corrective action requests implementing countermeasures to prevent recurrence 

  • Establish and asses quality testing standards and required frequencies based on risk and product requirements 

  • Perform other tasks or project work as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years proven experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred from an accredited university
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Actively seeks knowledge, skills and experience in order to grow and develop
  • Good trouble-shooting/problem-solving and mechanical ability
  • Achieves goals with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including prior experience with direct report or ability to influence without authority
  • Must be able to actively chip in in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal.
  • Must have schedule flexibility for occasionally staying over or coming in early
  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft Office
  • Previous Quality or Research and Development lab experience preferred
  • Certified Quality Engineer or ASQ affiliation preferred
  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt preferred
