Job Description

This Production Supervisor is accountable for planning, scheduling and supervising the activities of the production function of the manufacturing process utilizing employees, equipment and material within budgetary, cost and quality standards.  The incumbent will have significant responsibility for both people and capital intensive manufacturing processing operations.  

  • Provides direction, support and training to employees to ensure work is completed in a productive timely manner and to achieve internal/external customer requirements and satisfaction.  Facilitates teams to promote continuous process improvement solutions to enhance performance on metrics and personally seek ways to improve operations.

  • Act as a team role model and change-agent.  Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.

  • Working with appropriate resources, plans, organizes and directs the activities of employees to ensure a continual flow of work and to achieve defined goals and objectives.  Practices open communication and cooperation with other shifts and departments to promote maximum productivity.  Ensures effective maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment.  

  • Manages department employees.  Enforces and applies policies and procedures.  Monitors daily time and attendance records, reviews daily work results, counsels employees and takes necessary corrective action.  Ensures safety policies and procedures are communicated and followed.  Counsels employees on safe work habits and takes necessary corrective actions.  

  • Participates in quality assurance programs and activities.  Resolves quality issues through Engineering Departments.  Ensures necessary corrective actions are taken and sets procedures in place to prevent reoccurrence.  

  • Design and implement operations improvement strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory, and services.

  • Analyze and draw information for daily operational needs and improvement for the team.  Provide prompt problem solving for key issues.

  • Maintains accurate ISO documentation and ensures procedural compliance to include keeping personal training records for all employees. 

  • Collaborate with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes.  Make efforts to reduce manufacturing waste and process complexity.

  • Works with appropriate departments to help resolve customer problems / complaints (quality, priorities, changes in orders, etc.).

  • Plays a critical role in maintaining an ongoing flow of important information up and down the organization structure.  Ensures employees understand operations and company goals and performance measures.  

  • Supports major company programs and initiatives including team problem solving and formal job training.  

  • Participates in developing and managing department budgets. 

  • Participates in ELS training and Kaizen events as well as scheduling employees supervised for the same opportunities. 

  • Promotes 6S within the department / group and assists other areas when requested.

  • Maintain an up-to-date MDI board and conduct daily MDI meetings. 

  • Follows general plant and job specific safety and environmental requirements 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Operations Management required;  Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management field preferred.

  • 6+ years Operational experience with supervisory experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Skilled in scheduling and planning, budgeting and control.  

  • Skilled in designing and implementing operation improvement strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory and services. 

  • Ability to manage, coach and develop a diverse team of individuals performing a variety of tasks.  

  • Experience leading continuous improvement efforts.  Familiarity with ELS.  

  • Strong customer focus, communication, planning and coordination skills.  Demonstrated ability to think ahead, anticipate problems, make decisions and take appropriate action.
