Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement of material throughout the site. This may include loading/unloading of trucks and movement of raw materials, work in process, and finished goods. You will work 2nd shift 3:45pm to 12:15am Monday through Friday. 

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finished, Shipping, Receiving, and manufacturing areas. 

  • Unload/load trucks with incoming/outgoing materials. - Verify materials against receiving/shipping documents. 

  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.

  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycles counts and correct discrepancies and help manage winding drum and rack inventories

  • Raw/Finishing warehouse: Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets, and other consumable supplies to/from production areas as required. Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping.

  • Assist with cutting cores and packaging as needed.

  • Perform all assignments, duties, and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices. Encourage others to do so. Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately. 

  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.

  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed. 

  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations. 

  • Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard, and scrap materials. 

  • Support all 5S housekeeping activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Aable to follow written and oral instruction. 

  • Regard safety as a core value; serve as a role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures. 

  • Strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / educate the team in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills. 

  • Demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus. 

  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests. 

  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong inventory tracking system transactional skills. Must be able to obtain Lift Truck Operator's license. 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
