Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

This position plays a key role in  assisting New Product Development teams, supporting RFID inlay and converting design, development, and manufacturing transfer activities for multiple projects, to ensure compliance with company product design quality controls following Avery Dennison Intelligent Label Quality system  requirements. This role works closely with other departments on the development and execution of new product test methods, processes and quality validations. Main product reliability and component change qualifications. Support new product non-conformance product failure analysis, root cause investigations, quality control inspection activities and corrective/preventive action initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Relevant New Product Development experience: 

    • At least 8+ years of related new product development quality engineering experience required

    • Participates in multiple product development activities including Design Reviews, development of FMEA, audits, specification reviews, product transfer to standard mass production, and selection / design of tools, gages and inspection tools, etc.

    • Supports transfer of manufacturing activities from R&D pilot to production following the design validation.

    • Oversees all activities associated with R&D Quality, including proactive identification of improvement opportunities to improve efficiencies and compliance in the design and development process.

    • Interface with Research and Development and other engineering departments to determine whether process and/or product changes are needed based on field failure investigations.

  • Relevant Reliability experience: 

    • Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts of RFID product to recommend design or test methods for attaining customer-specified operational reliability, using knowledge of reliability engineering and other technologies.

    • Collaborate with Technology Engineering, Development, and Product Management to help develop, scale, and improve production systems and services

    • Manage KPIs including Run Hours, Mean Time Between Failure (MBTF) and Cost to repair of equipment and systems.

    • Develop Accelerated Life Test Plans for new and existing products based on industry and customer requirements.

  • Other  experience: 

    • Strong knowledge and acumen in RFID technology is preferred

    • Electronic, Healthcare, Aviation and Automotive industry experience is preferred

    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills

    • Ability to interface with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements

    • Ability to work well across global boundaries with all levels of management, employees, and willingness to work on a “global-clock”.

    • Willingness to travel up to 30% or greater.

    • Excellent communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information, and ideas in a tactful and confident manner to internal and external contacts.

    • Ability to prioritize and meet expectations in a fast-paced environment.

    • Excellent problem solving skills

    • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google platforms.

    • Bachelor’s degree required with a preferred major of chemical, mechanical, electrical or automation engineering.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK:  

Although the function is preferably based in Fletcher, NC or Miamisburg, Ohio. We operate multiple factories across the globe as well as having global customers. Extensive travelling will be part of this role.
