Job Description

As field service technician you will join the fast paced, growing Printer Solutions Division (www.printers.averydennison.com) working to maintain, install and support automated labeling solutions, Desktop printers and RFID products within Europe. Working independently and with minimum supervision you are responsible for repairing, Installing machine products, parts, devices and other equipment such as industrial print and apply systems, labeling/printing products and RFID equipment. Incumbent performs diagnostics and repairs on mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment as assigned in accordance with departmental productivity standards.  Position requires customer satisfaction skills, a sense of urgency towards meeting internal and external customer needs, and participation in all programs designed to meet the company’s objectives.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Activities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide onsite maintenance services, commissioning and support for customers both external and internal. This may include travel to different countries. 
  •  Perform repairs and preventative maintenance functions on customer equipment
  • Tests and perform necessary machine product adjustments to ensure full functionality.
  • Properly respond and resolve urgent service requests within company stated objectives.  
  • Performs all required customer follow up in a timely manner meeting company stated objectives in customer satisfaction. 
  • Maintains high priority on customer satisfaction.  
  •  Consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.
  •  Contribute and participate in team decision making.
  •  Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
  •  Continue to develop knowledge of software applications and diagnostic programs
  •  Maintains inventory accuracy and turns in accordance with service standards. 
  • Work closely with the service administration team to respond to customer requests. 
  • Provide technical support and training to indirect and direct sales associates, services professionals and customers in integrating label printer applicator solutions with both RFID and conventional barcode systems product offerings. 
  • Analyze systems to identify root cause(s) and corrective action(s) that will resolve critical Customer issues and ensure the best performance is achieved. 
  • Consults with Avery Dennison Engineering staff as needed to resolve questions or issues with product maintenance . software issues and installations. 
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies such as RFID.
  • Provide feedback to Service Management, Sales Management on issues, improvements and persistent issues.
  • Engage in active participation of the European service team with the hardware and software knowledge you have gained.  
  • Present the customer a positive image of professionalism and expertise regarding self and the company to maintain and increase customer confidence in, as well as loyalty to, Avery Dennison.​​​​​​​

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • Proven skills to perform onsite repairs, maintenance and commissioning on electronic and automated printing systems
  • A self motivated working behaviour and ability to assert oneself
  • Willingness to learn information through “on the Job” experiences as well as participation in company training 
  • Good time management skills 
  • Possess an ability to effectively interface with all levels of the end user environment (i.e. users, management, and executive management) as necessary. 
  • Strong listening skills, sensitivity, and openness to others’ concerns, issues, ideas.   
  • Sound judgment on being proactive taking actions or escalating issues on a timely basis
  • Possess an ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the end user environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years field service experience 
  • Mechanical, electronic and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of industrial Print and apply systems an advantage 
  • Knowledge of Software ( Windows, Office ) ,RFID, TCP/IP and Wireless connections
  • Customer Service Technician Skills 
  • Mobility / Flexibility and ability to travel at short notice 
  • Capacity of teamwork and conflict management
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Valid drivers licence and travel required
  • Language: Spoken and written English essential
