Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Buyer/Planner for our Avery Dennison Medical business based out of Mentor, OH. Part of the Industrial and Healthcare Materials division, you will be responsible for analyzing and plan material requirements and stocking strategies for both direct and indirect materials to support manufacturing by figuring out volume/timing of materials needed based on customer requirements, supplier lead times, and usage. You will regularly ensure efficient inventory levels are maintained on a consistent basis. Vital to this role is the use of planning systems and processes to make and execute machine and staffing capacity planning decisions. Working multi-functionally, you will review capacity to identify and communicate bottleneck areas and handle over/under capacity situations with the Operations Department.

Primary Responsibilities and Crucial Job Functions:

  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of product meet specifications. May develop the master schedule for production or manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Regional Procurement and other Avery Dennison divisions on identifying efficient suppliers and alternative sourcing options for indirect materials.
  • Review operational schedules and coordinate deliveries of materials to support manufacturing needs.
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers and perform accurate follow up, confirmation and verification of invoice accuracy.
  • Maintain stocking levels of Buy/Resell products according to customer demand.
  • Resolve match exceptions in a timely manner. Call out price variances to pricing administrators to avoid future discrepancies.
  • Update product information in the ERP/MRP system as appropriate.
  • Participate in physical inventory process.
  • Review customer forecasts, hard demand, and trends in manufacturing, sales, distribution, general business conditions and other related areas as required.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
  • Serve as a liaison to a business unit to ensure their supply chain, material management, and logistics needs are met. Act as a point for interpretation of related policies and procedures.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with cGMP, ISO 13485, and FDA CFR21 regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Business Management, or related field, or equivalent experience in similar role.
  • 1-3 years of Supply Chain / Logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and networking skills dealing with all functions and levels of the organization.
  • Works effectively with a wide number of functional areas. Able to lead, contribute, and influence others in a team-based environment.
  • Must have previous experience in PC-based planning and inventory systems, ERP/MRP.
  • Must demonstrate a flexible and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Sophisticated skills in taking large amount of data and distilling into meaningful solutions.
  • Can ensure strategies and tactical plans are consistent with overall manufacturing and service functional objectives.

Preferred:

  • Medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
