Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Performance Tapes division in Painesville, Ohio. You will serve as an authority in one or more engineering specialties, preferably controls and/or electrical engineering. In this role, you will provide engineering and technical expertise to the production facility in order to increase plant safety, efficiency, decrease scrap, improve product quality and support new product development. You will also perform moderately complicated engineering work in both independent and team-based settings.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or participate on major capital and process improvement projects; responsible for all engineering aspects, process, equipment, and controls.
  • Propose, design, prioritize, conduct and balance multiple projects for integration into the manufacturing environment. Write project plans and figure out timeline and resources for projects.
  • Work with outside parties (contractors, vendors, etc.) to aid in successful project completion.
  • Responsible for the safety of internal and contract employees working in and around project areas.
  • Develop project budget, investment justification and project approval requests.
  • Train operators and maintenance teammates, revise procedures, and plan for long-range maintenance of assets related to projects.
  • Get along with internal customers and vendors to ensure problems are clearly identified and quantified and the best solution is developed and implemented.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or related field is required. There is a preference for those with a degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering.
  • Strong project management experience required, preferable in large, CapEx projects in manufacturing or similar settings.
  • 6+ Years manufacturing experience preferred; 4+ if you have a Masters or other advanced degree.
  • Expertise in automation, drive and control systems as exemplified below:
  • PLCs experience: Allen Bradley ControlLogix, PLC5 and Siemens S7.
  • Drives experience: Parker Eurotherm, AB Powerflex, Siemens S120.
  • HMI software experience: Factory Talk Studio, RSView 32, Wonderware Intouch.
  • Data collection systems including Wonderware Historian
  • Knowledge of Safety PLC and associated hardware.
  • Knowledgeable with National Electric Code.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple, concurrent priorities while running multiple large complex projects. Project management certification is a plus.
  • Experience with LOTO, confined space entry and safe work practices in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong PC skills: MS Office, AutoCAD, Google.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous Six Sigma/Lean experience, Green Belt / Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of web handling, coating and thermal oxidizers a plus.
  • Experience working in facilities employing the OSHA Process Safety Management Standard a plus.
