We are seeking an R&D Engineering Co Op to join our Innovative Medical Technologies Group in North America at our Mentor, OH facility from May 2021 - December 2021. 

 

What you will be doing

  •  Assist with medical device product development in the area of medical adhesives.

  • Prepare technical documents fulfilling regulatory requirements for medical devices (e.g. 510k, CE mark).

  • Collaborate to compile process and product specifications and manufacturing documentation.

  • Organize project files. 

  • Perform laboratory testing.  Analyze and organize data.  Prepare samples and prototypes.

  • Understand and comply with cGMP, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 regulations.

  • Prepare and update project plans and contribute to project timeline development.

  • Follow a stage-gated New Product Development Process and/or Design Controls.

  • Leverage internal and external experts in the network to accomplish goals.

  • Work closely with design engineers.

  • Work under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions.  Work is then reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

What you will need to bring to the program

Avery Dennison has a long history of being an industry leader. Your history is important to us. It should include the following:

Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a focus on Biomedical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or related field

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong technical writing and communication skills

  • Independent thinker, highly energetic and self motivated

Preferred Experience 

  • Previous internship/co-op experience or relevant work experience

  • Experience via student organizations, such as Engineers without Borders, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers etc. 

  • Volunteerism or similar activities

Travel

  • Ability to travel 10 - 20 percent of the time
