Job Description

Avery Dennison is hiring a Finishing Value Stream Manager for our Peachtree City manufacturing facility! In this role, you will be responsible for the leadership and the execution of key business strategies. This role will report to the Plant Manager and be part of the Plant Leadership Team. The role will have exempt level direct reports with performance review and disciplinary authority. The Finishing Value Stream Manager will lead our finishing and Material Handling teams and focus on improving performance for all Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Cost and People Leadership Objectives of the department while meeting internal and external customer needs. Ability to work cross-functionally and influence others are key in this role.

In your role as Finishing Value Stream Manager delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success:

  • Provide daily leadership to instill and reinforce an injury-free workplace and environmental compliance
  • Develop Strategic Improvement Plans for each operating cell in the department. Lead and champion projects targeting safety, workmanship, quality, productivity and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for continuous improvement activities, including Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) and Six Sigma, resulting in continuous progress against the Avery Dennison ELS Global Standards. Measure performance of teams against performance targets and provide feedback.
  • Manage staffing to economically meet business requirements and create cross-training opportunities.
  • Set clear expectations and hold front line leaders accountable for results. Actively train, motivate, coach, and develop teams. Develop and drive initiatives to improve employee relations / employee survey target areas.
  • Collaborate with other functions within and beyond the facility to ensure completion of both tactical and strategic improvement items.

Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Responsibilities Include

  • Manage the overall department strategy Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM).
  • Oversee daily Tier I report out, Lead daily Tier II report out to plant, and monthly/quarterly report out
  • Track metrics for department
  • Attend plant leadership meetings
  • Manage the Team Leaders of Finishing & Material Handling, including completion of quarterly performance reviews.
  • Address employee concerns that escalate.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field preferred. Demonstrated Operations Leadership experience and capability in lieu of degree may be considered.

Experience:

  • 3+ years in a progressive leadership role within a manufacturing environment required.

Other:

  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing both individuals, including managers, and work teams.
  • Working knowledge of modern manufacturing, material flow and improvement strategies and the ability to integrate those into the operation.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to openly convey information to team members in a timely and concise manner. Must have strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be a change leader: ability to adapt, assimilate, initiate, support and reinforce change among the teams.
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills with the ability to achieve results independently and through others.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a bias toward action.
  • High level of proficiency with information systems and manufacturing applications. Experience with business computer software systems such as MS or Google Suite, Oracle or other ERPs.
  • Ability and willingness to adjust schedule to support three-shift operations.
  • Black Belt or Green Belt Certification preferred.
