Job Description

The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials division produces print receptive top coatings (dedicated to the self- adhesive label market). 

As an intern, you need to synthesize or investigate blends of new polymers to substitute current PVC based product to increase specific performances. The ideal candidate is expected to support the technical leader of the project (development scientist) with the analytical laboratory work such as adhesion testing, FT-IR, contact angle, microscopy.

 

Qualifications

Position Requirements

We are looking for candidates who should be following a Bachelor or Master degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Engineering with a focus on the synthesis and materials characterization.

Also we expect you to have:

  • Prior lab experience in laboratory synthesis of organic molecules and polymers.

  • Ability to perform test on the major instrument techniques such as FTIR, GPC.

  • Ability to conduct laboratory experiments with minimal supervision with the utmost regards to safety.

  • Be safety-oriented, a fast learner and have the ability to follow established experimental protocols.

  • Proactive to take the lead, independent to take full responsibility of the lab work, team worker to network and communicate in global R&D organization.

  • Work and reporting will be done in English.

The preferred start date is the 15th of September 2019 and the ideal candidate is available for 5 days a week. Duration of internship is at least 9 months and can be combined with a thesis project. You will be based in our European HQ in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands.
