Job Description

As an External Embellishment Agile Project Manager you are responsible to drive all non product related projects within EE. You will partner with all necessary divisions and teams within Avery Dennison, like the Commercial Teams, Finance, Procurement, Sourcing and Operations, Legal, HR and IT, to successfully complete your projects on time.

As a Project Manager for External Embellishment you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of a project. This will include overall project planning, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals and a highly efficient development / deployment process.

 

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive agile sprints as a scrum master

  • Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects.

  • Work with management teams to translate strategic objectives into executable projects, and to develop plans for achieving stated objectives.  

  • Provide executives with project risk assessments and summary level project status reports.

  • Strategize with project team to forecast problems, assess potential risks and solutions, and plan alternatives.  Coordinate the recovery of projects that are struggling or failing. Identify and share new approaches to reduce project implementation timeline and cost of project development.

  • Develop budget for project(s) and keep within budget.

  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.

  • Help infuse process discipline, systems thinking, and critical tools deep into the organization thereby enhancing company’s capacity for effective & efficient project management.

  • Create detailed project plans that explicitly align the efforts of multiple functional specialties (e.g. Sales, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, etc...).

  • Leverage Design for Lean Sigma methods & tools to: accelerate project timelines, encourage cross-functional collaboration, and build quality into projects from the outset.

  • Identify & resolve issues proactively and balancing schedule, scope, and cost constraints creatively.

  • Ensure teams meet or exceed anticipated project benefits on-time, within budget, and with the desired level of quality.

  • Drive the development of a formally documented approach to project management and encourage a critical shift in the culture to a more disciplined and rigorous process orientation.

  • Transfer capability by: serving as role models on the projects they lead, delivering focused training as necessary, and mentoring other project leaders.

  • Work effectively with internal and external clients, third party vendors, and senior management in accomplishing project objectives.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or related.  

  • Profound  experience with proven success as a Project Manager

  • Deep knowledge of agile project management techniques, specifically as a scrum master.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred

  • Demonstrated success in cross-regional projects or initiatives

  • Strong influencing skills, public speaking skills and ability to champion projects both cross functionally and vertically within the organization

  • Takes initiative, and has an entrepreneurial spirit that is able to work independently and collaboratively

  • Subject matter expertise and/or consultation and project management skills

  • Experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation

  • Knowledge of the assigned business area’s products and processes; experience in the strategic use of technology in managing and growing a business

  • Excellent facilitation, customer service, relationship building and communication skills.

  • Excellent project management skills with knowledge of Excel or Project Management tracking software (e.g. Microsoft Project)

  • Experience with applying ELS / DfLS (six sigma and lean manufacturing) methods & tools preferred

  • Comfort and confidence in interacting with / presenting to all levels in the organization

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to influence effectively and strategically

  • Apparel & Footwear industry relationships preferred

  • Frequent travels will be required
