Job Description

This position performs department customer consultant duties within a self-directed work group, according to policies and procedures; be a liaison between field, other departments and the customer.  

  • Increase the average dollar value of an order through up-selling, add-on selling, special promotions, etc.
  • Act as a problem consultant addressing the following concerns:  order status, shipping dates, production delays, pricing/shipping errors, policy procedures,  or credit problems.
  • Obtain/generate leads and qualify for Sales; obtain and enter orders from customers, field sales and service reps covering all product lines. Enter, edit and make address corrections to customer information in order to prepare data base for order processing via computer.
  • Perform order maintenance changes as required for orders entered by Inbound customer sales.
  • Initiate calls to customers with information requiring product information, prices on quotes, expediting responses, order delays, order status, etc.
  • Edit/process orders following a programmed format.  Verify correctness of quantity, order multiples, etc.
  • Maintain and update various departmental reports which support the finalization of those orders requiring special handling.  Apply acceptance dates to all incoming orders which is vital in the measurement of customer service levels.
  • Enter and dispatch service and technical support calls.

Qualifications

  • This position requires an Associate Degree in Business Communications, or related field of study, or the equivalent in education or experience.  
  • One year of sales experience is required, along with prior inbound customer service experience within the last three years.
  • Ability to read and write, and be able to proof and perform editing (i.e. quantities, kind sizes, and printing instructions); strong computer skills.
  • Perform non-complex math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage) to verify calculation on prices of product per unit.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills requiring ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
