Job Description

The Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for coordinating the design and deployment of marketing initiatives that result in increased share, sales and profit growth to attain the business unit’s strategy goals. You will design integrated communications and programs across multiple media touch points and assist in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluating of marketing communications programs and campaigns using a combination of internal and external resources to support business objectives. This role will collaborate frequently with business partners throughout the organization to champion communications strategies and implement tactical plans. You will work with a team of passionate marketing and communications leaders, and report to the Global Marketing Communications Manager. We are looking for a creative individual with a real passion for copywriting, project implementation and management, trade show and event planning, and a consistent track record of developing comprehensive communication tools and programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement annual marketing communications plans for the region that guide the delivery of strategic programs and messages to the sales value chain and partners.
  • Work closely with the U.S. marketing leadership and product managers to help develop and communicate the value proposition and strategy towards the external customer, within the business unit and within Avery Dennison.
  • Support the regional business strategy and commercial execution plan, identify and agree on actions to deliver a marketing communications program.
  • Work closely with the global team on common platforms.
  • Understand requirements between departments and functions, and handle multiple needs across projects.
  • Define, drive and follow up the day to day marketing communications activities as well as long-term marketing communications strategy.
  • Take concepts and translate into easy to understand quality marketing material in a highly technical B2B environment.
  • Write copy, edit and proofread marketing communication materials, print and digital.
  • Write, edit and work cooperatively with contributors to provide information content on external communications.
  • Actively drive the creation, execution and evaluation of marketing collateral, product launch and promotion campaigns to support the sales process, to increase the profitability of products and services through the utilization of communications tools.
  • Develop, execute, and measure marketing communications programs and initiatives including advertising, digital marketing, trade events, campaigns and other.
  • Identify and run the regional agency network. Review work submitted by outside agencies/contractors to ensure accuracy, proper layout and copy adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Lead and handle all aspects of trade shows, promotional and/or customer events, including all logistics. Set critical metrics.
  • Champion correct usage of graphics standards, brand and corporate guidelines. Protect and promote the business brand and Avery Dennison identity.
  • Track promotion budgets and plan for purchases, including verifying invoices and various vendor logistic items.
  • Drive standard methodologies and consistent processes as a member of the Avery Dennison Performance Tapes Marketing Communications team.

Qualifications

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Journalism, Marketing or related field required.
  • 8+ years of marketing communications or marketing experience.
  • Experience in Industrial B2B, specialty chemicals, metals, or related industries.

Skills / Competency

  • Skilled in project management.
  • Creativity skills – including creative and art direction, strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Extraordinary written and interpersonal communications skills and excellent English writing skills. (other languages will be considered an asset).
  • Proficient in crafting presentation materials, use of Microsoft PowerPoint and Google slides and docs.
  • Able to develop clear, succinct articulation of communications objectives in the form of project briefs.
  • Strong presentation skills and persuasiveness.
  • Strong organizational and event planning skills.
  • Product and company branding experience.
  • Knowledgeable in digital marketing technology and programs such as Act-On or other marketing automation platforms.
  • Able to meet deadlines and establish clear priorities quickly – works effectively with tight deadlines and able to handle a heavy workload, and organize and handle a multitude of different tasks in parallel.
  • Consistent track record of working across multiple divisions/operating groups and functions and juggling multiple priorities.
  • Ability to conceive, plan, execute and evaluate the whole range of communications materials – including advertising, direct mail, print collateral, electronic collateral, sales promotions, internal communications and PR.
