Job Description

We are looking for a Material Quality Consultant to join our team in Mentor, OH. In this role, you will serve as the customer’s point of contact for material-related quality issues, as well as drive quality information and improvement through the organization. These type of issues can occur anywhere within the product’s chain of custody and can result from LPM-NA material defects and/or customer converting defects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Interact with the customer via email and telephone to collect information relating to quality issues. Records this information and performs the necessary steps to discern whether or not a refund is due, if it is a processing issue on Avery Dennison side or processing issue with the Customer.
  • Responsible for claim entry process from initial entry to credit generation. Claims process includes giving customers’ traceability information, providing material disposition, assigning corrective action letters, and sending samples to an at fault location.
  • Ensure that we are responsive to customer needs through timely processing of complaints. Uses a positive attitude when responding to customer complaints.
  • Follow established process for handling customer deductions forwarded by accounts receivable.
  • Provide customer requested documentation of claim details and provide proactive claim status updates when there are new learnings.
  • Act as the customer advocate, providing valuable feedback to the organization on customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as neutral party between customer and organization in claim investigation.
  • Interact as needed with Sales, RTM’s, Facilities, PTI, Technical Leads, Customer Service (ACs and SCs), site resources, and divisional technical resources to obtain information pertinent to understanding and resolving customer quality issues.
  • Pull, analyze, and summarize quality performance data for customer.
  • Suggest on-site RTM support if needed to determine whether it is an Avery Dennison processing issue or a customer processing issue.
  • Collect material samples for site investigation and divisional A3 support.
  • Perform material testing against established specifications and provide diagnosis/recommendations for purchased products exhibiting either poor quality or poor performing characteristics.
  • Conduct all laboratory work in accordance with established and understood workplace safety principles and practices.
  • Provide training when needed to both team members and external personnel.

Qualifications

What we will be looking for you in you:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • High school diploma required
Experience:
  • 4-7 years technical experience needed
Other:
  • Thoroughly knowledgeable on Material Quality testing processes
  • Strong customer service skills - written, verbal and telephone communication skills
  • Understanding of applicable computer software and systems, such as Google (Drive, Slides, Sheets and Docs), Lotus Notes, and function specific software (e.g. QIS, MFGPro, AS400B)
  • Attention to detail & organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
