Job Description

Avery Dennison, has an immediate opening for a PSM (Process Safety Management) Engineer at the Performance Tapes Facility in Painesville, OH. In this role, you will craft, develop, implement & lead compliance for key regulatory programs related to PSM. The role will also require prioritization, and implementing safety and efficiency projects. Both process changes and capital work will be included. This role will report into the Regional Technical Manager.

  • Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices and consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.
  • Be a safety leader: actively engage and influence employees on the importance and benefits of working safely.
  • Integrate environmental, health & safety management systems with engineering and program documentation and schedules to maintain safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate the Management of Change (MOCs) program.
  • Conduct Safety Reviews and Process Hazard Analysis.
  • Review all solvent-based operations and projects to ensure compliance and viability with the process safety management program.
  • Coordinate and provide leadership for all aspects of the solvent process by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings, procedures and solvent safety programs and policies.
  • Act as a liaison and respondent for audit activities.
  • Lead the site Process Safety steering team to develop and complete projects to continuously improve the PSM program
  • Develop and supervise leading indicators on the health of the site PSM program.
  • Development and implement training programs related to PSM, PHA’s, Management of Change and other related programs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in mechanical / technical field preferred
  • Ability to read and understand complex regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to craft training material and effectively conduct employee training.
  • Ability to develop and modify Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Validated ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from shop floor to leadership
  • Strong analytical, research and report writing skills.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Autocad/ChemCAD/ASPEN, MS Office, Google Collaboration tools, internet, and function specific software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in facilities employing the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard
  • Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPs)
  • Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance Programs
  • Experience in project management
  • EHS program administration.
