Job Description

The Chemical Technician II is responsible for supporting operations by staging and moving manufacturing materials around the site via forklift, pallet jack, or hand.  Performing production floor support activities such as stocking materials, obtaining samples, changing filters, labeling, and packaging finished materials.  Preparing tanks to receive production batches, performing compounding/transferring operations, and loading/unloading bulk materials. Performs housekeeping tasks.  Works under the direction and supervision of more experienced operations team members. This role will be on 3rd shift, 10:45 PM - 7:00 AM. This position is paying $22.66 / hr. plus a $2.00 shift differential. 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Activities and duties may vary depending on site-specific needs and daily work assignments. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Moves manufacturing materials as required, including by hand. 
  • Prepares to package, obtains samples, changes filters, labels, and loads drums, totes, and tankers with finished product. 
  • Prepares tanks to receive production batches by transferring material or performing water rinsing to meet schedule requirements. 
  • Follows standard operating procedures including entering variables and monitoring transfers for compounding/blending materials making adjustments as needed. 
  • Records data and maintains paperwork and spreadsheets associated with assigned work, judging for accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Follows safety procedures when handling materials and operating equipment. 
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by performing assigned housekeeping tasks.
  • Follows verification process to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  • Obtains assistance from higher-level production personnel if problems arise or normal instructions are insufficient.  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience. 
  • This job may require the periodic use of a respirator. Proper fit of the respirator requires the employee to be clean-shaven.

  • Must have demonstrated a record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.
  • Must have a strong detail orientation and be able to follow written and oral instructions.  
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Ability to stand on feet for several hours
  • Mechanical aptitude

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate certificate/2 years of college or equivalent experience preferred.
  • EHS & Quality training desired, hazardous materials training desired.
  • Forklift and Yard Truck experience desired. 
  • 1-2 years of chemical manufacturing or applicable experience is strongly preferred.
