Job Description

Our Fitchburg, MA Fastener Solutions facility has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician in our extrusion and injection molding operation. In this role, you will work 2nd Shift, 2:45PM -11PM. Overtime is required based on business needs. We operate 8 hours shifts Monday-Friday; occasional weekends as required

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairs, troubleshooting as well as changing over machinery and mechanical equipment such as injection molding machines, extruders, auxiliary and assembly equipment. Conducts preventative maintenance tasks to equipment. This position reports into the Maintenance Manager and is directed by the 2nd Shift Leader.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks
  • Troubleshoot Manufacturing equipment when breakdown and failure occurs.
  • Install, Maintain, repair and adjust mechanical & electrical systems for production equipment.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of the machinery.
  • Mold changes and machine setups
  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, fittings, and related equipment.
  • Set up programs and repair automated machinery and equipment i.e robots, autobaggers, packagers, winders and etc
  • Document repairs and work daily.
  • Maintain water, cooling, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment / systems.
  • Escalate information at shift change, reporting all problems to Team Leader and/or Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Document all safety checks (crane, forklift), LOTO and Hot Work Permit
  • Train other mechanics on proper repair techniques, equipment systems operation and safety.
  • Willingness to cross train in other technical roles (Process Technician / Tool Room)
  • Observe proper safety guidelines and procedures during the performance of all assigned duties and tasks
  • Health & Safety:  Consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.  Perform general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within the department and assist other areas as required. 
  • Teamwork:  Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals. Participate and share in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility.  Contribute and participate in team decision making.  Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • ELS:  Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process. Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Complete all other duties or tasks that may be assigned or required of the position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 - 5 years previous experience required.
  • Ability to work with measuring tools (verniers / tape measurer)
  • Confirmed skill working with people to achieve objectives in a team teamwork environment with a strong knack for interpersonal communication.
  • Mechanical/technical and problem solving skills 
  • Able to work safely in a fast-paced environment with a highly participative workplace.
  • Able to work independently in a safe and timely manner
  • Motivated towards productivity improvements, safety and quality awareness.
  • Willingness to learn & grow within the organization.
  • Flexibility with working hours and overtime

Knowledge of these area to be a plus:

  • 3-5 years as an Industrial Electrician or related electrical experience.
  • Knowledge of relay logic, DC drives and PLC system a plus
  • Welding, machining and or work with hand tools
  • Building maintenance 
  • Technical or other post secondary school training is a plus.
  • Skilled in working from blueprints, circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of using voltmeters and related testing equipment
