Job Description

This position schedule is from Mon-Thurs 7AM-5PM.

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain all processing and material handling equipment within the plastic injection molding and extrusion
  • processes.
  • Complete preparation and tasks needed for Mold changes and machine job change-over setups.
  • Set up programs of automated machinery and equipment i.e robots, auto-baggers, packagers, winders and etc
  • Escalate information at shift change, reporting all problems to Team Leader and/or Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Follow process procedures or instructions from Team Leaders. 
  • Willingness to cross train in other technical roles (Maintenance Technician / Tool Room) Health & Safety:  Consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.  Perform general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within the department and assist other areas as required. 
  • Teamwork:  Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals. Participate and share in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility.  Contribute and participate in team decision making.  Provide support in project work and other special requests.
  • Actively partner with line inspectors and line packers to ensure quality and productivity goals are met on each shift.

  • Monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production specifications.
  • Set-up injection molding and extrusion processes machines and auxiliary equipment which require a high level of precision and the interaction of multiple variables.
  • Load raw materials, determine and manage machine controls and unload finished products.
  • Perform routine tests and check products for multiple characteristics using standard measuring devices.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • Document and escalate any malfunctions or abnormalities of equipment.
  • Maintain production records and logs of equipment and product performance
  • Order lengths may be of short, medium or long duration requiring frequent change in set up and variation in cycle, adjusts set up and process operations accordingly.
  • Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste or rework in the process.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in extrusion and/or injection molding 
  • Possess or acquire within specified timing any licensures necessary to perform job.
  • Adaptive, flexible, self-directed and able to handle ambiguity.

  • Strong detail orientation and be able to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
  • Skilled in working from blueprints, circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • Knowledge of using voltmeters and related testing equipment
