Job Description
The System Designer Challenge in a Few Words:
You will participate in various phases of test systems design. These systems will integrate functional requirements, architecture or interfaces that you will be asked to define. As a Systems Designer you will be expected to interact with customers, development teams (both hardware and software) and perform system validation.
Your Contribution in this Role:
Support the Project Manager and act as a technical leader in the management of technical scope, budget, schedule, task definition, procurement, risk assessment, and system-specific technical details;
Act as the technical system representative for the client;
Define the appropriate test strategy for a unit to test and prepare detailed test requirements;
Define the architecture of test systems, clearly indicating how the system will ensure proper operation of the various functional requirements and prepare any required documentation (Test Requirement Specifications, System Architecture Documents, System Validation Procedures, Bill of Materials, etc.);
Prepare system specifications, ranging from functional to non-functional based on the specification documents provided by clients;
Define internal and external interfaces of the system and the nature of the data exchanged;
Define GUI Man-Machine Interface (MMI) used in the system;
Coordinate design reviews of development teams;
Coordinate components procurement, development tasks including design, integration, validation and implementation of client requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate in a few words:
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Automated Manufacturing or Physics or related experience;
Experience: a minimum of 10 years of experience in Software or Hardware design and experience in Test System Architecture, experience in the manufacturing industry;
Knowledgeable in standard instrumentation used in the test industry (DMM, Switching, I/O, DAQ, Oscilloscope, PXI Platform, etc.);
Knowledge of the IEEE system engineering process;
Understanding of software and hardware development;
Substantial knowledge in electro-mechanical engineering;
Meticulousness combined with excellent organizational skills to achieve quality, cost and delivery objectives;
Rigorous: Possess a strong sense of organization, detailed execution in order to achieve quality, cost and delay objectives (QCD);
Hybrid work model: Office presence 3 days/week
Multilingual: Fluent in French\English written and spoken. Any other language is an asset.
Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and partners in Quebec as necessary. French-language training is offered to all incumbents in permanent positions in Quebec who do not have a good knowledge of French.
