Activities/Responsibilities

  • Supervises, assists and supports the 2 chief accountants (2) directly and 4 employees indirectly located in Belgium and Poland for the Group’s European entities
  • Manages the financial accounting & reporting closing process for all European legal entities to headquarters
  • Manages Europeans treasury (cash pooling), multi-currency cashflows (external and intercompany), bank guarantees, and European hedging strategy
  • Manages local financing and finds and manages opportunities for tax credit, grants or other subsidies
  • Manages European financial statements and tax audits and assists on the Corporate financial statements audit
  • Ensures compliance with local GAAP, corporate and sales tax (VAT) regulations, labor laws and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and identify potential risk areas and propose concrete action plan
  • Reviews and approves the Belgium, Netherlands and Poland payroll
  • Assists on identifying and mitigating risk on worldwide mobility of Averna employees
  • Monitors, improves, and optimizes financial controls and reporting to align with corporate policies and strategy
  • Manages renewal and assesses needs for local insurance with the support of Corporate legal department
  • Supports corporate on worldwide tax compliance including transfer pricing, structure of sale proposals, preparation of corporate insurance annual renewal and treasury initiatives
  • Initiates changes within the finance function through efficient systems and processes and a continuous improvement culture
  • Manages relationships with external stakeholders, including European banks, auditors & European authorities
  • Supports Corporate controller and regional managers with ad hoc initiatives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate in a few words:

  • Professional accounting certification (CPA – level 2)
  • Experienced: A minimum of 5 years of experience in controlling, at least 2 years of experience in an international and multi-site environment; audit experience; a minimum of 3 years of experience in a big4 audit firm/ an asset.
  • Proficient: Ability to work under pressure and handle multi-tasking. A Team spirit and good leadership. An excellent sense of initiative and strong analytical capabilities; Very hands on; Comfortable with managing personnel and developing human potential as much locally and internationally; Experience in fast pace environment; Excellent knowledge of Excel and ease with systems; Knowledge of Dynamics 365/an asset; European tax experience/an asset; Knowledge of project accounting (Experience/ an asset).
  • Multilingual: FLUENT POLISH & ENGLISH (written & spoken), Dutch or French / an asset
  • Mobility: travels (c.a.15% in the 1st year and less on the following year c.a. 10-15%) - PL (2 locations: Krakow & Wroclaw /BE/ NL
