Machine building industry

At Averna it's all about quality and even more specific ‘product quality’. We help our customers to market their products without defects. Our automated test and precision assembly systems check if products look like they should look and do what they must do. Often our systems test new and complex, high-tech products.

To develop our automated test machines, we usually start from a white sheet of paper to develop the system concepts and modules from the core. We then realize the concepts we devise in our assembly hall. We serve customers from different international industries such as medical, automotive, consumer electronics, semicon, inkjet industry.

Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Designer in a few words

You will have the opportunity to join our team in Hasselt where you will design machine concepts and support the construction of customized test and measurement equipment:

  • Independent mechanical design of assigned projects
  • Support during construction of machines in cooperation with the project team and project manager
  • Opportunity to work on projects on an international level

Your contribution in this role

  • Prepare mechanical concepts for the sales team in cooperation with the team leader
  • Share and communicate your knowledge within the mechanical team & other relevant departments
  • Prepare the detailed specification of the design of mechanical components
  • Define mechanical schematics and BOMs
  • Follow-up during prototype development
  • Support qualification tests and certification
  • Support the integration of hardware and software
  • Use simulation packages where necessary
  • Implement calibration and validation procedures
  • Perform risk analysis together with the project team

Qualifications

The ideal candidate in a few words

  • Degree: A bachelor’s or master degree in industrial engineering or equivalent
  • Experience: More than 5 years of experience in mechanical design or precision automation applications
  • Proficient: Inventor or equivalent. Profound knowledge of geometrical tolerances. Knowledge of automation principles, materials and surface treatment, pneumatics, machine safety, preventive maintenance, motion system calculations
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to plan and organize workload, professional and results oriented. You adapt easily to change , you are strong in management of priorities
  • Language: Fluent in English, written & spoken. Dutch is an asset
