Job Description
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Our Primary Division provides a transformative academic program to engage young minds and promote creative thinking. During grades 1-5, students cultivate independent thinking and deepen their understanding of what it means to be a member of a community, through a curricular emphasis on: language immersion; inquiry-oriented learning, from the self to the world; and interdisciplinary, creativity-enhancing projects.
As the Head Teacher you will:
- Develop and teach curriculum across multiple subjects that engages all learners in meaningful, challenging work that cultivates 21st-century skills
- Ensure that all students achieve key learning outcomes for the grade level, targeting instruction thoughtfully to address individual needs
- Build a robust learning atmosphere that leads students to value being at school and feel part of a rigorous but joyful learning community
- Collaborate intensively and daily with colleagues to continually improve student learning and school culture
- Deeply connect with students and vigorously uphold a culture of welcome, safety and respect
- Inspire trust and confidence among parents and families
Qualifications
ABOUT YOU
- Previous teaching experience in 3-5 grades with a proven track record of student learning
- Strong understanding of and instructional skills teaching through a balanced literacy approach
- Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals together
- Deep dedication to learning and developing as an educator
- Very resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace constant change, growth and learning
- Graduate degree in education, teaching or a related field
