Offering resident centered care with a specialized focus on our award winning Avenir Alzheimer’s program. Designed to encourage interaction and independence while concentrating on meeting resident’s unique needs by promoting their individuality and enhancing their health and spiritual well being.
This community will be the first stand alone memory care residence available to seniors living with dementia on Vancouver Island. Residents will benefit from Nanaimo Memory Care’s neighbourhood design concept and secure home-like environment. Alzheimer’s trained licensed professional staff on site 24 hours a day conduct meaningful engagements personalized to each residents preferences. Our residents will enjoy elegantly furnished private and semi private suites with a personal bathroom.
Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for meeting and greeting residents, guests, suppliers and vendors in a memory care setting. Monitors visitors entering the building and ensures that they sign-in. Answers/transfers incoming phone calls and handles switchboard to respond to all communication needs and inquiries.
Essential Job Functions:
Serve as receptionist and greet all guests, suppliers and vendors, and outside service providers.
Distribute packages, business mail and magazines.
Provide on-going switchboard telephone coverage.
Maintain visitor sign-in logs.
Monitor closed circuit security TV cameras and fire board alarm (where applicable)
Maintain security for admittance to all entries accessible to the public.
Prepare maintenance work orders as requested by residents and staff.
Prepare correspondence, memos, and other documents.
Responsible for data entry of general resident information using computer software system.

Qualifications
Education Required (Preferred):
High School diploma or equivalent in education, training and experience
Years/Months of Experience:
One year of experience working as a Receptionist/Switchboard Operator
Prefer experience in senior housing environment.
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of telephone/switchboard operations
Organization
Excellent Communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.
Special Requirements (if applicable):
Doctor’s statement verifying free from communicable disease
