Job Description

This position is responsible for increasing opportunities for residents at AHA properties to gain and maintain health and wellness. The Health, Wellness, and Education Coordinator establish partnerships with community organizations to provide educational events and programming that support residents of all ages in building knowledge and self-sufficiency. This position works closely with residents and staff to plan, organize, and implement health and education programs.

This role includes both program coordination and direct service support, with approximately 30% of the position dedicated to service coordination/case management activities and 70% dedicated to program development, implementation, and community engagement.

Essential Duties: 

  • Organize and coordinate wellness clinics at AHA properties to increase overall wellness of AHA residents.
  • Identify, recruit, and collaborate with community partners and organizations to connect them with residents through workshops and events. Establish, build, and maintain partnerships with relevant organizations and individuals to connect residents with opportunities and resources.
  • Coordinate and promote variety of workshops and projects to increase health and wellness of residents (e.g. cooking classes, balance classes, health coverage workshops, nutritional food programs, etc.).
  • Plan and coordinate adult educational programs such as ESL classes, GED classes, and vocational programs. 
  • Collaborate with Aurora Public School district and Cherry Creek Public School district to connect residents with after school programs.
  • Serve as an advocate for residents.
  • Assist resident-led Resident Councils in conducting effective and productive meetings, improving volunteer leader training and encouraging volunteer participation.
  • Provide communication format such as newsletters, calendar, flyers for upcoming activities.
  • Collaborate with and communicate effectively with all departments as needed.
  • Assist residents in accessing resources related to housing stability, food access, and health services.
  • Provide light case management and referrals to appropriate agencies.
  • Coordinate with APS, county services, and care providers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Master degree in a related field preferred (e.g. Social Work, Public Health, Education, Nutrition, Health Education, Health Promotion, etc.). Baccalaureate degree required in one of the related fields.

Experience in outreach, health promotion and education.

Knowledge of community organizing principles that lead to empowerment.

Knowledge about health and wellness for diverse groups of population.

Experience in facilitation and community organization.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent customer service skills.

Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Teams.

Standard office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Teams)

 

Additional Information

Salary $56,000-$61,000
