Job Description

Aurora Dairies are currently seeking an experienced Water Monitoring & Compliance Officer to support water resource management across our farming operations.This is a unique opportunity for an experienced water management professional to play a key role in optimising water use across a large-scale dairy business.

Reporting to the General Manager - Tasmania, the Water Monitoring & Compliance Officer will work closely with Farm Managers and operational teams to manage water licences, allocations, monitoring systems, telemetry and compliance requirements across Aurora Dairies.

Regular travel between Aurora Dairies properties will be required.

This role will include responsibilities in the area of:

  • Water licencing, allocation and regulatory compliance management.
  • Water entitlement utilisation, allocation management and seasonal water planning.
  • Water metering, telemetry and water monitoring system management.
  • Soil moisture monitoring, irrigation scheduling and water-use optimisation.
  • Analysis of water-use, irrigation performance and monitoring data.
  • Irrigation efficiency, water productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Water infrastructure, monitoring technology and capital improvement projects.
  • Regulatory reporting, audits, inspections and compliance activities.
  • Technical support, training and capability development for farm teams.
  • Stakeholder engagement with water authorities, regulators, contractors and service providers.

Qualifications

The essential skills and experience for this opportunity are:

  • Proven experience in water resource management, irrigation operations, water compliance or a related agricultural environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of irrigation systems, water management practices and water-use efficiency principles.
  • Experience managing water licences, allocations, approvals and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Technical knowledge of water metering, telemetry, soil moisture monitoring systems and associated technologies.
  • Ability to analyse water-use and irrigation performance data to support operational decision-making and optimise water utilisation.
  • Strong project management, reporting, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and manage competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between Aurora Dairies' Tasmanian properties.
