Aurora Collegiate Academy is a K– 5 college preparatory charter school for underserved children from across Memphis.  Aurora opened its doors in August 2012 with a mission of laying down a firm foundation of academic success and high expectations for our students so that they are prepared to make it into and through college.

Members of Aurora Collegiate Academy staff will work to prepare students in grades kindergarten through fifth with the academic, social, and character foundation necessary to compete in college and beyond.  It is the expectation that Aurora Collegiate Academy teachers will live our mission, instill our core values, and do ‘whatever it takes’ to provide students with the education they deserve.

Job Description

Academic Supervisor

Aurora will have 3 academic supervisors supporting grades: K-1, 2-3, 4-5.

Key Duties for the grades they manage :

Teachers Supports:

  • Review lesson plans
  • Provide all coaching support
  • Arrange coverage for classes in staff absences
  • Review report cards for accuracy
  • Hold parent meetings related to academics with teachers

Culture Supports:

  • Own attendance
  • Grade wide behavior management systems 
  • Grade wide incentive systems
  • Hold parents meetings related to behavior with teachers
  • Student discipline (excluding expulsion/ suspension)

Supervisor Supports:

  • A member of the leadership team
    • Data Review
    • Input on hiring and retention
    • Be a key voice in all schoolwide decisions and vision
  • Drives all academic and culture goals
  • Manage, create, and execute professional learning

This is a 12 month position who reports directly to the school Principal. 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college.
  • A state issued teaching license, or are in the process of obtaining a state issues teaching license. 
  • A willingness to complete all duties and responsibilities to the fullest.
  • A belief that all students can succeed in college and a desire to lead students to that outcome.
