Aurora Collegiate Academy is a college preparatory K– 5th grade charter school for underserved children from across Memphis. Aurora Collegiate opened in August 2012. Our mission is to prepare each of our students to enter and excel in a rigorous secondary school and eventually in a 4-year college or university.

Members of Aurora Collegiate Academy staff will work to prepare students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade with the academic, social, and character foundation necessary to compete in college and beyond. It is the expectation that Aurora Collegiate Academy Teachers will teach through our mission, instill our core values, and do ‘whatever it takes’ to provide students with the education they deserve.

Job Description

In order to achieve our mission, Aurora teachers will:

•Write effective weekly lesson plans using standards-based curriculum. 

•Edit lesson plans after review by an administrator.

•Deliver effective lessons using both whole-group and small-group instruction

•Use data as a classroom-planning tool to inform all instructional decisions.

 •Follow the school systems for student behavior expectations and effectively manage classroom behavior.

• Work effectively and professionally with all school team members.

• Participate in high frequency, targeted professional development and coaching.

• Follow all professional norms.

• Afterschool tutoring is one day a week for an hour. 

• Do whatever it takes to achieve the academic mission of Aurora Collegiate Academy.

 Adminster progress monitoring tools to  scholars needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions

 Conduct intervention groups for scholars needing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions

 Plan lessons for intervention groups

 Maintain RtI paperwork

 Monitor and facility RtI Fidelity Checks

 Organize and lead RtI Meetings




Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college.
A state issued teaching license, or enrollment in M.A.T. program.
A willingness to complete all duties and responsibilities to the fullest.
A belief that all students can succeed in college, regardless of background, and a desire to lead students to that outcome.
