Job Description

1. New Project Development & APQP Management

• Lead supplier APQP activities for new product development and localization projects, ensuring on-time SOP readiness and successful industrialization of bought-out parts.
• Drive supplier quality planning through APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, PSW approvals, feasibility reviews, and Supply On monitoring.
• Ensure supplier manufacturing readiness through Run@Rate assessments, capacity verification, and Supplier Launch Containment (SLC) execution.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Customers, and Suppliers to meet project milestones, support audits, ensure compliance with customer requirements, and manage seamless project handover.

2. Supplier Quality Assurance & Performance Management

• Drive supplier quality performance improvement through PPM reduction, incident management, complaint resolution, and preventive quality initiatives.
• Lead supplier problem-solving and corrective action activities using 8D, Six Sigma, and structured root-cause analysis methodologies.
• Manage customer, line, and incoming quality issues while ensuring timely containment, escalation management, and sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop supplier capabilities through continuous improvement, technology enhancement, performance monitoring, and crisis management to achieve long-term quality excellence.

3. Supplier Audits & Compliance

• Plan and execute:
  • VDA 6.3 Process Audits, Process Audits, CQI Audits; IATF 16949 compliance audits, Customer-specific supplier audits
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational effectiveness, Ensure implementation and closure of audit findings.
• Verify supplier compliance with industry standards, environmental requirements, and customer expectations, Support Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance requirements throughout the supply chain.

4. Supplier Development & Localization

• Lead supplier localization and development initiatives to reduce import dependency, optimize costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
• Conduct supplier maturity assessments, capability reviews (SCR), and risk evaluations to identify and qualify potential suppliers.
• Prepare Supplier Decision Sheets (SDS) and provide SQM recommendations to support sourcing, supplier nomination, and business decisions.
• Drive dual sourcing and localization strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and cross-functional teams to support business growth and risk mitigation objectives.

5. Process Development

• In depth Process knowledge of Aluminium / Extrusion & Machining
• Manage development, qualification, and approval of  machining and extrusion suppliers, ensure rapid localization of Valve Block components to mitigate supply chain risks and support business continuity.
• Coordinate supplier manufacturing readiness, process validation, and customer approvals.

6. Supplier Change & Lifecycle Management

• Manage Product Change Notification (PCN) implementation within assigned supplier categories.
• Coordinate supplier process changes through CARV and customer approval processes.
• Maintain Material Life Cycle (MLC) management in WISE CLMS.

7. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

• Lead Cost Reduction Program (CRP) initiatives through localization, value engineering, material optimization, and process improvement to achieve sustainable cost savings.
• Drive cross-functional cost improvement projects in collaboration with suppliers, Purchasing, R&D, and Manufacturing teams.
• Promote manufacturing excellence by optimizing supplier processes, reducing waste, and enhancing overall operational efficiency and competitiveness.

8. Measurement Systems & Process Validation

• Lead planning and development of gauges, fixtures, and measuring instruments for supplier components.
• Ensure effective implementation of:
  • MSA; SPC; Capability Studies; GD&T requirements
• Verify process capability and product conformity through robust inspection methodologies.
• Validate supplier processes prior to production release.

9. Team Development & Leadership

• Mentor and develop SQM team members.
• Conduct technical training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Build supplier quality competencies across project teams.
• Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
• Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Drive Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean initiatives within Supplier Quality Management.

Qualifications

Education

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Diploma in Production Engineering preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience.

Certifications 

• IATF 16949 Internal Auditor; Product Safety & Conformity Representative (PSCR)
• Six Sigma Certification Preferred

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Successful execution of new product launches, supplier quality performance, PPAP approvals, audit compliance, and supplier capacity readiness.
• Achievement of localization, cost reduction, supplier development, risk mitigation, and PCN implementation targets.
• Continuous improvement in supplier delivery performance, customer complaint reduction, and PPM performance.

Technical Competencies

• Strong expertise in automotive manufacturing processes including machining, forging , springs, fasteners, welding, and surface treatment technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of quality management systems and core tools including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, GD&T, 8D, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Hands-on experience in inspection and validation using CMM, VMM, contour measurement, roundness testing, profile projector, UTM, hardness testing, and precision gauging equipment.
