Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Customer Product Quality Manager (CPQM) to lead customer product quality activities across multiple product families within the segment. This position serves as the primary regional quality interface between customers, manufacturing plants, R&D centers, and commercial organizations to ensure consistent product quality performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term business success.
The CPQM is responsible for driving customer-focused quality strategies, coordinating complex quality investigations across multiple manufacturing locations, and leading cross-functional improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle. The role provides governance and oversight of customer quality performance, warranty trends, field quality issues, and product-related escalations while ensuring alignment between customer expectations, engineering requirements, and manufacturing execution.
This position operates at a segment level, supporting multiple production sites and product families across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Customer and Segment Quality Leadership
- Serve as the regional quality representative for assigned customers and product families within the segment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customer quality, engineering, warranty, and purchasing organizations.
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive quality management, effective communication, and timely resolution of escalated issues.
- Represent the segment in customer reviews, business assessments, quality performance meetings, and escalations.
Product Quality Governance
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive customer product quality strategy across multiple plants and product lines.
- Monitor and analyze customer scorecards, warranty performance, field returns, quality KPIs, and customer-specific requirements.
- Identify systemic quality risks and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve product performance and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure lessons learned and best practices are deployed consistently across manufacturing locations and product families.
Cross-Functional Quality Coordination
- Lead complex customer concerns that require coordination between manufacturing plants, R&D, Customer Centers, Warranty teams, and Quality Management.
- Coordinate regional responses to customer complaints, product investigations, and field quality issues.
- Facilitate root cause investigations and ensure robust corrective and preventive actions are implemented and verified across all affected locations.
- Drive alignment between engineering, manufacturing, and customer expectations throughout the product lifecycle.
Warranty and Field Performance Management
- Analyze warranty data, field failure information, and customer performance metrics to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Lead initiatives to reduce warranty cost, improve product reliability, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Support technical factor and share-rate discussions with customers in cooperation with supplying plants, Customer Warranty teams, and Quality Key Account Managers (QKAMs).
Continuous Improvement and Risk Management
- Promote the use of structured problem-solving methodologies, statistical analysis, and risk-based quality management practices.
- Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing defects, improving reliability, and lowering quality-related costs.
- Drive the application of APQP, FMEA, Lessons Learned, and preventive quality methodologies across product families.
- Assess product and customer-related risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
Quality Performance Reporting
- Prepare and present quality performance reviews, warranty analyses, customer scorecards, and strategic improvement plans to senior management.
- Provide transparent reporting of customer quality trends, major issues, corrective actions, and risk assessments.
- Maintain governance over customer quality actions and ensure timely execution across all responsible functions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive quality management, customer quality, product quality, or engineering quality roles.
- Experience managing customer quality issues involving multiple manufacturing locations and cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and customer-specific requirements.
- Proven experience leading root cause investigations and corrective action programs.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting quality, warranty, and field performance data.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and customer organizations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Experience with customer portals, scorecards, warranty systems, and KPI management.
- Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management methodologies.
- Advanced English.
- Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multiple product families within an automotive segment environment.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience leading regional or global quality initiatives.
- Understanding of warranty management, field performance analysis, and reliability engineering.
- Prior experience working with OEM customers and multinational manufacturing networks.
