The Sports Medicine Department is hiring for the 2026-27 school year, with training to start in August of 2026. Sports Medicine Student Assistants are part of the dynamic Sports Medicine team, providing crucial care to Augsburg athletes, both in the training room, on-field and court-side, gaining useful hands-on experience. Some training may be available starting April 2026.

Hourly rate: $16.45 per hour
This position is not benefits eligible.

Job Description

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide athletic taping and assist with medical treatments for athletes
  • Practice/game preparations and coverage supervised by certified athletic trainer
  • General cleaning and athletic training room maintenance & basic office administrative tasks
  • Assist with medical record keeping and computer input
  • Provide/assist with First Aid and possible CPR in an emergency situation (training provided)
  • Some travel with athletic teams may be necessary
  • The position may involve standing for long periods of time and lifting items up to 50 pounds.
  • Training will be provided.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Students must be currently enrolled at Augsburg, and must be work study-eligible. 
  • CPR/AED, First aid certification, and bloodborne pathogen training (training provided)
  • Available to work some nights and weekends (usually Saturday)
  • Orientation & training period (min of 5 hours in Athletic Training room)
  • Able to work independently
  • Effective communication skills
  • Accountable
  • Reliable and responsible for assigned tasks
  • Must commit to a minimum of 1 full school year (August to May)

Available to start in early August each school year. Please note that training opportunities may be available in late Spring.
