Job Description

Summary of Position 

The Christensen Center for Vocation is hiring for a part-time (5 hours/week) Seasonal Coordinator (April 15, 2024 - July 31st, 2024) to help with The Confluence. This position will complete administrative event planning and coordination, registration and communications, marketing and promoting, congregational and community engagement, and the ongoing program needs in partnership with the program director, to ensure a successful event. The ideal candidate will be a person who:

Time Commitment

  • The position is seasonal =April 15 - July 31st, 2024.
  • Approximately 5 hours per week. 
  • Attendance at the Institute  =  June 23-28, 2024. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinating housing, event space, catering, and transportation needs for the week of AYTI, working with the Events Department on campus.
  • Set up, and manage the registration process of AYTI participants.
  • Oversee program evaluation and assessment from participants and mentors.
  • Attend the Institute providing coordination with staff to implement a successful event.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Keep accurate financial records of event expenses of the AYTI program to ensure compliance with the grant. 
  • Support communications for AYTI social media, website, printed materials, etc. 
  • Assist in managing contact databases and systems for consistent and effective communication.
  • Other administrative and communication tasks as determined by the supervisor. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
  • Regular computer and phone use.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years additional education beyond high school.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in youth ministry, event planning, and program coordination preferred. 
  • Has experiencing coordinating youth ministry events.
  • Can be efficient and decisive to successfully complete administrative responsibilities.
  • Has the ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise.
  • Has a heart for youth and youth ministry. 
  • Commitment to the ministry of Christian congregations and a Lutheran theological understanding of vocation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to reason/analyze; maintain confidentiality; and demonstrate patience, understanding.
  • Knowledge of or participation in the Augsburg Youth Theology Institute.
