Job Description

  • Welcome visitors to the Strommen Center
  • Training students on Handshake, our online career portal
  • Assisting students with resumes and cover letters
  • Navigate searches for jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities
  • Connect students with opportunities to build relationships with alumni and others through informational interviews and job shadowing
  • Assist with outreach and education including:
    • Promoting career services through tabling, presentations, job fairs, etc.
    • Creating content for social media and the Strommen website as well as designing marketing materials in Canva
  • Support Strommen Center’s operations through completion of projects that may include (but are not limited to) liaison to campus groups, outreach, graduation survey, data entry in Handshake, event planning, student experiences interviews, and research
  • Attendance at monthly team meetings as well as regular supervisor check-ins.

Qualifications

  • Current Augsburg student, second-year or above, with enthusiasm for helping peers
  • Interest in developing expertise to help others explore careers and use the resources of the Strommen Center
  • Written & verbal communication skills including the ability to listen, advise, teach, and explain in one-on-one advising conversations, tabling events, and presentations
  • Manage multiple priorities of student walk-in traffic, outreach/education, and special projects
  • Attention to detail and follow-through
  • Resourcefulness and skills in creative problem-solving
