Job Description

Rate of Pay: $15.57 per hour. Free on-campus housing for duration of program (move in June 21)

Dates: Summer 2024 Program Dates: June 23- July 18. Training: Two days in May and two days in June. Dates TBD.

Job Description:

The Summer Bridge Program is a unique opportunity for incoming Fall 2024 first-year students to experience campus life and and get them prepared for their educational journey at Augsburg University. The Summer Bridge students will be living on campus for 4 weeks. 

As a result of being a Summer Bridge Peer Mentor, students will be able to:

  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy residential community: coordinate move in and move out, post door and hall decorations, enforce program and University regulations
  • Provide academic skills support through evening study group activities, speech research and rehearsal assistance, constructive feedback
  • Plan and facilitate study break activities that actively engage others
  • Support a constructive group environment for first-year students through respectful communication, positive attitude, motivating confidence, and providing assistance
  • Collaborate and work in a team to implement a successful Summer Bridge experience

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work to develop a team
  • Ability to maintain private information
  • Desire to work in a flexible, team-focused atmosphere
  • Sense of responsibility and sense of fun!
  • Willingness to live in residence hall during Summer Bridge program June 23- July 18 (room provided)
  • Willing to complete other duties as assigned
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Augsburg for Fall Semester

Desired qualifications:

  • Completed COM111 Public Speaking course
  • Previous residence life experience
  • Current TRIO/SSS participant
  • Involvement and/or leadership in Augsburg co-curricular activities
